Is it just me, or is this fourm dying?

Yo peeps!
Just outta curiousity does it seem to anybody that this Fan Fiction Fourm is dying? It seems like not many people are on it a lot and rps are really slowing down and dying out...

Not particularly, no. In fact, to me we seem to be a fairly high level of participating. You should have seen it a year or so ago; we'd be lucky to keep anything but the Timeline alive for very long. What we have now is a marked improvement. ;)

The only real problem, actually, is that we have too many RPs. Our member base is spread out among so many great ideas that some start to falter. Hopefully we can consolidate into a few stable RPs soon.

It's a series of RP's set after Oblivion that have taken place since the end of 2007.

The idea is that you need a good host and a good group of dedicated people. I feel like there aren't as many fan fictions as there were and many even not as many RP's, but this place was desolate in 2010 (particularly towards the end of it) and had almost nothing going for it. I'm glad some of it has been revived and it is good to see old faces returning, as well as new ones. But by no means is the forum dying. It's been a LOT more dead than this.

You got to know alot of stuff in Immortal Blood. Study alot of history, know physics of horses in the rain or how many camels in a battle-field and that sort of stuff. Or how many troopers that would logically be deployed in a single battle within a confined radius that is surrounded by threats. You'll be fine. Just make sure you talk about camels and ancient history and Redguards and stuff.

Not to long ago you were lucky if there was even one fresh new RP to join. Now there's a bunch of them that have just started.

The fanfic bit of it could use some revitalization, though. Fairly constant stream of stuff, lately, but not many people providing feedback.

Oh wow, its not dying. Great ideas will always be available to creative minds (and there are some very good ones on these forums). Great, long-lasting RP's have been churned out, and will continue to do so.

This. There's just so many ideas out there that it's spreading what we have thin.

He's right about a few years ago though. In 2010 when we did the second version of Circlet Ignited it barely made two threads. Which for a timeline RP is rather bad.
What exactly is Immortal Blood? What is the sake of the timeline?

Alright. The Timeline was named after it's founder, Immortal Blood; however right now I have no idea what the official name is because IB stepped down and Lord Tidus now has "Ownership" of the timeline.

Basically what it is is a series of RP's that start after the Oblivion Crisis and pay no heed to any Bethesda lore created after the OB Crisis. For instance the events of The Infernal City are nonexistent in the Timeline, and any lore that was given in Skyrim was discarded as well. In fact, Skyrim actually "stole" some of our lore and used it in the game (The Azura's Star quest was pretty much the same thing that was designed in the timeline as a plot, and the whole Aldmeri Dominion reforming and warring with the Empire was also devised in the Timeline.) Call it coincidence or not, the similarities are still there

Anyways, the Timeline uses its own set of lore that was created through a series RP's that play out in a "Timeline" like manner. The events of Siege of Sentinel set the lore up for Queen's Waltz, and both added to the lore base that was used for The Knight the Sword and the Sentinel. And the lore that was created from doing each of those RP's is being used for the mini-RP The Siege of Taneth.

Pretty much the events of A affect what happens in B and the events of A and B affect what happens in C and so on. So far there is a TON of timeline lore created through the RP's and as official lore articles. So in a nutshell the Timeline is a series of extremely complicated and intertwined RP's that create a parallel "Timeline" to Bethesda's own lore.

Oh and this :P :

I've been meaning to read yours for a while now. I really like things on Morrowind. However my schedule is really busy and I haven't found the time to sit down and read that massive thing yet.

But, I will read it someday. :P

Glad to hear it. But it's not just my stuff (which, anyway, I understand, because what I've written is a novel). A lot of the stories that get posted here from first-time writers or non-forum goers barely get read and hardly acknowledged. I always try to read and critique, because I want to foster a supportive environment of creative excellence in this place, but I can't get to everything by myself. P'raps you RPers aren't too worried about it, but personally I think it's an insult when the Lore-Lords won't deign to post their Monkey Truth in your forum.

I only stepped out of the current RP in its current state...which is now turning into the Taneth Siege where i'll be leading the defense with the help of a few other dedicated writers.

Too much redguard love in the timeline, I vote for Argonian bromances from now on.

We're not saying we wrote to bethesda and said "Do this, this would be good" nor are we saying that bethesda saw what we did and decided they liked it. Basically, toward the end of the first timeline RP (SoS) a character named Serosi basically corrupted azura's star and created the black star, this was around 2007/8.

I won't speak for others. But this part of the year is exceptionally busy at university. So work/study has eaten into all my freetime.

Dying? Not really. Then again, I hit this forum to read the occasional fan fic that hits my interest, or put up images of the figures and terrrain I make about the Elder Scrolls personalities and lands. Like most things in life, they take time and life 101 will always find ways to take precedence. I know I have more artistic items to display here and I am nearing completion of Book II of Heir to the Lokken Kingdom. I never judge a forum a success because of the quantity of threads but more by the quality of threads in it.

Yeah, I agree on the behalf of other college studients. I sometimes forget I'm homeschooled and not in college yet, so I have the world on my hands. (Unless there's a stupid science test on the laws of motion with calculations that are crazy hard.)

There were more threads and most posts in the christmas holidays. Things like school and uni are crunching a lot of hours out of players right now, but the board is still really healthy.

That's a lot of hitting...

I can only echo what others have already said. This forum, at least since I have been here, has never been a particularly active board. At least in comparison to the rest of the forums. However right now is definitely one of the brighter spells in activity that it has seen. As others mentioned before the announcement/release of Skyrim these parts of the forums were almost devoid of any life whatsoever, with a faithful few still plugging away (namely the IB Timeline, and a few others). I don't really recall this board being more active than it is now since the post-Oblivion era, which was when I joined. So I wouldn't say it is dying at all, no.

It wouldn't hurt to have more active posters in those RP's I'm currently in. I guess it's just me who logs in five times each day to see developments in the RPs and feel like it's ages since someone posted something in them if it takes more than a day. But truth be told, in Valton RP, more than half of the players haven't posted at all or have last posted more than two weeks ago.

I also feel I'm logging in way too much for the activity. I imagine that the big problem is in dialogs, if one participant becomes less active, the other gets stuck in time.

This is a time-intensive hobby though, especially if you're trying to put good content out there.

Basically, toward the end of the first timeline RP (SoS) a character named Serosi basically corrupted azura's star and created the black star, this was around 2007/8.

Sadly the reason for this in Skyrim was because some Dunmer wanted to be immortal. Serosi had a much more intricate purpose. After corrupting the Star he wanted to be somewhere near a battle (which the current conflict provided) in order to siphon thousands of souls through the Black Star near Vott's Void sword, Hunger. This was done to "draw out" the Void, basically over flow Vott's weapon in order to expand a portion of the void which Serosi then manipulated and made his own. This resulted in a form of magic/technique by Serosi known as the "Tears of Padomay."

rant off/
