Just a thought--Draugrs . . .

Post » Wed Mar 26, 2014 5:05 pm

I have always wondered why draugrs carry around gold. I mean, it's not like they need the money to go out on a date.

No one THAT ugly will ever get a date . . .

Not to mention that they existed long before that currency was ever used.

Maybe because it is one of the things they are buried with.

but in-game it's just another way to throw money at the player.

I've also wondered why animals (and creatures) sometimes carry gold. Perhaps, it has something to do with them eating people and swallowing the gold. :D

Did they...?

I imagine that the gold is some kind of offering, like what the ancient Greeks did, burying a couple coins with them to get past the boat-keeper of the River Styx. Its possible that the Nords did something similar.

I got the impression that some of those Draugr are actually pretty fresh...

Indeed. A septim depicts Tiber Septim. Atmorans and ancient Nords way predated the pretender.

Well, they probably had some kind of currency back then, and the Septim is just representing what they would have had. (cause Bethesda can't be bothered to make multiple currencies)

It's for game-play reasons like bear said though, I find it funny that they even have gold. Real nords pay the iron price

Some of the comments were clever and funny. I am surprised that people thought I was making a serious comment. Heck, I was just having fun! Of course, the reason is more $$ for the Player.

I especially liked the comments of Black Pete and monkeyemoness. Glad you have a sense of humor. :icecream:

Voting offerings buried with the dead? The Nords were a shamanistic people, even if they called their shamans 'dragon priests,' so that wouldn't be unusual.

Also the draugr looked alive for the first couple of years. They could've popped outside, for building supplies

That too. They must've replenished their own numbers over the years.

You obviously have not met me, http://puu.sh/6Z374

Also, AL-DU-IN's deathless faithful are fully sentient and sapient. They are as devout as they were in life. They follow their day-to-day duties as they did in life. And they are loyal to AL-DU-IN's holy choosen... as they were in life. Praise be, to the blessed Draugr. Bless be, the last remnants of the Old ways. Blessed be, the last True Nords of Skyrim.

So what do you think about the Draugrs who carry Septims?

You know "Coins with the head of Talos imprinted on it "

Well Sir, it's like this.

Due to the high staff turnover, the 'management' has been forced to recruit contractors. After expenses, they are still loaded.

Able to swan around from barrow to ruin pointing out the faults in others, talking loudly in the canteen and knocking off early.

A minutes silence please for the permanent staff. Who I cheerfully lopped the heads off at level 5.

Dude: I'd hate to see your children. Actually, I don't have anything personal against Draugrs, I just wish they wouldn't try and kill me. (An, "Excuse me, but you shouldn't be in here") would be nice. Heh, heh, heh. Now, the Forsworn, on-the-other-hand . . .
