lies

Its true. They crawl into your mouth at night and down your throat.

I too have heard that statistic many many times.

No worries though, your stomach acid kills them and you digest them before you even realize it happened.

Unless you are unlucky enough to wake up.

Why on earth did you spit on it? Last time I had a spider in captivity I kept it in a small plastic dome with a hole, then lit a match poked it through the hole and set it a light... Got what it deserved. Evil poisonous, spiteful demonic creatures!

We can't rule out the idea that the spider was playing dead, and will attack the OP in his sleep.

People swallow 7 spiders a year on average.

I've heard this fact floating around the internet a lot.

Maybe there's just like one guy on some remote island who eats nothing but spiders and that brings up the world average.

Unfortunately. I was hoping it had a nice suicide note and blew its brains out. How disappointing :sadvaultboy:

I knew the spider had problems and she been talking about killing herself for days---I---I never took her seriously...(sobs uncontrollably).

I've seen June Bugs flying so much into my house they eventually kill themselves by exsaultion. My dog love to eat them and eats them like popcorn.

Actually, when you consider the fact that lots of people actually eat spiders intentionally, which makes them eat thousands of spiders a year, when you take the average of all of those people and those who don't eat a single spider a year I'm not surprised that the result is somewhere around seven.

So you are telling me that only one drop of spit and one drop of water caused this spider to die?

This sounds fishy. There must have been...a second spitter.

Unless the spit ricocheted off the sink, then hit him again. That is one magic luggie. . .

If the spit blocked the spider's spiracles or trachea, it might not have been able to breathe, and would have effectively drowned, or at least stumbled disorientated through lack of oxygen.

I swallowed a bee once, i swear that thing was a ninja. I was just sitting there, eating my apple, talking to people. I then went to take a bite and there was a bee on it. Lets just say they don't tickle going down the throat. I couldn't eat for the rest of the day without it burns like there was a fire in my throat. Ninja bees :ninja:

My dog eats, wasps, they don't seem to affect him. They taunt him by flying low, then flying higher when he tries to jump and eat them. Eventually he catches one and swallows it before it can sting him.

Another weird BGSF thread folks, a legend. People will be talking about the suicidal spider for a long time to come. I can't really add anything to this conversation that hasn't been said. So will instead contribute unsaid things to say about nothing. I think I accomplished it quite well.

I have the note right here:

Well I'm through with it, just had a one night stand with a man I thought I could share my life with, but unfortunely he was found dead the next morning. I then gave birth to thousands of little baby children and I named them each. Many of the older borns didn't get along with their brothers and sisters and many fights that lead to them being eaten. The ones that grew up have now left my cozy egg sack to make webs of their own, catching flies of their own that I taught them how to do. It was difficult raising them for a few days what wothout a father and all (Vinegar Ra rest his soul). I am now lonely and spend many of my days in the small upper corner of the bathroom ceiling of a human's lair. They keep much food around that attracts many insects which is an easy way to gain lunch, but has led to to all this diet going to my eight legs! I am now alone, fat, and near the end of my days........

I now toy with the humans by walking across the floor or the good ol hang from a single strand from the ceiling and scaring the crap out of them. I have dedcided now and once and for all I will end this life of mine. I guess I'll go out with a bang scaring a few humans while I go, hopefully they'll make it quick with those giant wings hey have. Silly how they never fly with them, but there just stupid humans.

Sincerely, Shelob

The spider didn't commit suicide. It was struggling to breathe because your spit clogged its breathing spicules. In its panic, it flailed into water. Spiders don't breathe through their mouths. There are two sets of organs on their abodmens: one at the front of the abdomen, and the second behind the former, plus little aforementioned breathing holes.

Turns the Page beat me to it.

Once I was going to take a drink of water from my water bottle, and there was this small beetle was on the top. It got onto my lip, I got it off, but I tasted it. The taste was actually not that bad.

Also, once in my yard I saw two groups of ants fighting: One group with black gaster. and two with a white gaster.

I've seen that before. It was black ants vs. red ants, and the red ants won.

I was crouched on the ground for an hour watching this fight.

That was one of my favorite things to do when I was younger.

Anyways I saw one of those centipede type things with pincers for a tail grab its own neck and squeeze when I kept poking it.

I've never seen ants with a white gaster, where do you live?

Any chance you can identify the speces with memory?
