I just watched the first 7 min of a Wildstar video and all I can say is wow just wow. No seriously it looks like World of Warcraft (WoW) only much more cartoony and cheesy. How is anyone comparing that game to this? I am not saying ESO is superior I am saying that it is like comparing a Dorra the Explorer to Reservoir Dogs. They are just too dissimilar to even try to measure against each other.

I am glad I watched it though as it was a reminder of why I dumped WoW a long time ago and never looked back. And also reminded me why I am pumped about this game. ESO may not be all I hoped for but at least I am not playing a game that looks like it was aimed at pre pubasant girls. Hmm are you sure. A lot of people have been comparing ESO to Wildstar, and claiming Wildstar is the better game. I think showing the first 30 min of gameplay might be relevant for people to get a feel for what the debate is about. But maybe I am just an information junky.

Ummm . . . No. The only thing they have in common is that they are new MMO's. Otherwise it is comparing apples and oranges, two completely different games.

WildStar is just WOW 2.0 in space. As such I imagine it'll be wildly successful. Still, I'm looking forward to ESO more.

Looks like a good game to be honest, just not really my style. I love cartoons and I love MMOs, but I do not want cartoons in my MMO.

I said that explisitly in my OP. But considering the majority of the people on here play multiple MMO's and read forums about said MMO's it might be useful for them to have knowledge about what is being discusses/ compared. And considering so many people are talking about this particualr upcomming game as a competetor I thought it was relevant. Since the name is in the title I figgured people who don't care about it wouldn't click it.

I have nothing against Wildstar, it looks like fun. However, this is a Elder Scrolls Online forum and you shouldn't assume what knowledge people should or should not have. Ignorance has never impeded anyone on the internet before.

I expect it to be a huge flop, just like all the the other WoW 2.0s. It lacks a certain vibe from the video. Might be a fun and interesting game, hard to say because I didn't like the commentator's voice. I do wonder if you had a guy like Vin Disel doing the commentary would the game feel more manly

The beta was very enjoyable. It's extremely arcadey and light hearted. It's also much more modern combat so I see a migration of existing/former WOW players to it. The only way it won't do well for them is if they screw up the technical side (and the client was fairly solid when last I tried it).

That said, I'm pretty set on ESO for now.

I assumed only that if they wanted knowledge they would click the link, and if they already knew they would not. This allows them the freedom of choice. I assume nothing about anyone’s ignorance or lack of it (until they open their mouth or start typing). You have claimed that it was somehow unbecoming of this forum, that is does not belong here since it is not ESO related, and I talked about how it is since it is ESO’s closest new release competitor and people are talking about it in reference to ESO (and that a great many of us play multiple MMO’s). And lastly I think you suspect I am promoting that game on the ESO forum which if you read my OP you can see I clearly am not. I only wanted people to see how ridiculously different the two are, and maybe to help remind others, just as that video reminded me, of why despite its flaws ESO is going to be an amazing leap away from that style.

I was looking at some screenshots of it the other day. It looks almost as dated as WoW and it isn't even out yet....

Unless WoW has gotten way better graphics than I remember from seeing in a trial back in the day, Wildstar is extremely nice looking. Cartoony for sure! But very nice. Looks like a pixar movie or something.
