I am a playstation user so I will probably need an xbox player to help, i was wondering if when you start the dlc, if you finish the game can you free roam after you buy it?

example: if i finished the game, at the end when they tell me how cool i am then all of the sudden *Black Screen!* game over credits play and your like aaaaaaw... *tear* will you be able to continue on and complete side quests if i purchase the dlc?

They have stated that when the game is done and credits roll the game is done. There is a pop-up warning that states you are at the point of no return. At that point you should save so you can always go back and do unfinished quests. This is likely to be the same with the dlc. Again, save at the point of no return so you can use that character for the dlcs. I have heard nothing regarding a dlc allowing you to play after the main quest is done...and in fact they have stated no dlc will allow you to do this. Though, they might do it if there is enough community outcry I guess...one can never tell until the last of the dlc's are out. But I would not hold your breath.

Ronin20, didnt they also state they werent going to have a DLC that raised the cap point? If I remember right and they said that, then they lied then because this DLC i keep seeing raises the cap point by 5.

That is what I am thinking, I love the FO series, but I just dont follow it in depth, but I do recall hearing how they werent going to do a broken steel DLC for new vegas which ment a cap level increase and free roam after the game. Since the first DLC came with a cap level increase, I am thinking we just might see a DLC to allow play after the game is finished. I dont see why we shouldnt have that option though, you dont want to play after you beat the game well then dont, hit Esc and start a new game.

I do know alot of people on youtube were upset because of corrupt saves and for this DLC they had to revert to a save long before the point of no return save.

I know I finished the game and I am just wandering around the waste land like I finished the game even though I didnt. I should be good for when this DLC comes to pc with all my saves.

I think their reason for not allowing you to play after the main quest is that too much would change. Given that there are three different routes you could have gone. ie NCR, Legion, or yourself. I can see how that might make things a bit difficult to making NV seem like the final battle actually did somthing and was not just a WWI run at the trenches then run back with no real gain or loss. Also, NV might seem kind of empty and void of life without one or more of the factions running around. I personally think that the devs could have done somthing to allow you to play afterwards and not have it such a massive change as to make it unecessarily complex and impossible...but I'm not a modder or a dev so I don't really know.

I think theres a way it could have been handled, just need to look outside of the box. They could have set it up where if you side with House, Cesar ends up getting wiped out you will see a few Cesar loyalists around just like the Enclave in FO3. You could see limited numbers of NCR troops as well and see more of houses secuirtrons. Only enemy that would be around would be the few remaining NCR and Cesar forces and the typical enemies such as the fiends.

I do understand why the cut the game off though but I feel with alittle time and thought put into it there could be a way to keep the game afterwards without devoiding the wasteland of enemies or people.

It wouldn't take much to add free roam with a DLC if they really wanted to.

The events after the battle change too much for them to get away with a freeplay addon. They're not just going to throw it in for 5 bucks and if they were going to do it properly it would probably take more effort than making a story DLC. Plus post-ending gameplay would be crippled, for example a lot of your companions leave, to do their own thing.
