There isn't really that much difference between the races in Skyrim. Each race gets a different racial power - for example, orcs can go into a short berserk rage which increases the damage they can do and decreases the damage they take. Khajiit's racial power is to see in the dark. Apart from that the starting skill levels will be slightly different for each race. Khajiit will probably have their skills stacked marginally in favour of stealth.

But after you've played for a bit your character will reflect your playing style rather than the race you've chosen. So the major difference is going to be how they look.

So if you like the look of the race (which it seems you do), why not go for it :)?

[edit]
Oh, yes, different races may have different weaknesses or resistances, but we don't know that yet.

Pro: you want to use one.

Nothing else matters.

Go for it man.

I never choose my race based on stats or racial abilities or anything like that. Just play the race you think you'd enjoy the most. So far I've mostly played Argonians and a couple of Bosmer and Bretons, but I think the Khajiit looks awesome in Skyrim so I'll definitely be playing one of them this time around. My Argonian is usually a Mage/Steath hybrid so maybe I'll make my Khajiit a Warrior/Steath hybrid.. :turned:

No, they are useless and have to bury their own poo in the dirt.

Plus, alot of people are allergic to them.

They can breathe underwater, they look cool, they are immune to poison.

Initially they'd probably be better than average at the stealth, average with the archery, and worse than average with the magic. However, keep using those skills and your character will quickly be (for all practical purposes) as good as any other race at these.

You've actually chosen an interesting mix of all three main archetypes (mage, warrior, thief), so I'm not sure any race would excel at all three :).

OK. That's acceptable. I don't know if you can delete your own thread.

Well, there is very little difference between races gameplay wise. The stat boosts are very minimal.
Skyrim is a role-playing game, so role-play whoever you want, however you want :)

Precisely! Those starting stat bonuses will not make matter in a few levels anyway. As for the racial bonuses, we don't know how they will work in Skyrim yet, but as others have put it: Play a race because you like they way they look. Not because have +15 to awesome. :)

No. You would make a terrible Khajiit. Heck you can't even spell the race's name correctly.

why are the argonians so popular?

1. Skill wise, they're an all around good choice, they can easily be any of the three archetypes and anywhere in between.
2. Racial abilities. They have the ability to breathe underwater, which makes underwater exploration easier and they are resistant towards diseases and poisons.
3. Aesthetics. They are giant freaking lizards!

I personally prefer the Bretons as the alpha race for the previous games at least for the magicka boost and more importantly the resistance to magicka. The orcs and redguard are excelent for their beserk powers and the altmer can die very easily but can use the most powerful spells in the game, albeit custom spells. The other races have little concern for me, however I suppose in my list the Argonian comes 5th and the kajiit comes 6th in my list of favorite races. Skyrim's leveling system is completely different and the racial perks may not necissarily be the same. I can only hope to wait until the game comes out to make an educated guess for a decent race for different play styles.

If you're not too concerned with decent character abilities/builds and prefer role playing and perhaps lore I suppose it's best to pick whichever race you desire, which you can only answer yourself.

Hey, why does a desert Khajiit have to be able to spell the name? He can sneak up on you and cut your throat just fine without a lot of fancy book learning .

Anyway, that's just the Imperial spelling, not the real Khajiiti spelling :snooty:.
