Jygallag and SI

Hmmm... good post. At the end of the game though, he IS the person who was Sheo though, correct? So if he inevitably turns back in to Sheo, you would have two Sheos.

That lends credence to the idea you are a still mortal placeholder with Sheo as a title... the real Sheo will return, despite what Jyg stated.

The idea is that the gods are roles, they represent a concept that exists in the Aurbis as if it were a mind. These concepts are such that they empower that which acts as their representation.

So you can think of Sheogorath in the same way you would think of Hamlet. It doesn't matter who is playing Hamlet, as long as he wears the garb, ponders about suicide and generally acts depressed it's Hamlet.

I don't think the Heart was removed from the world.

...I didn't say the Heart was removed. I said it would HAVE to be removed for the world to end. It IS the Heart of the World, after all.

If anyone still has questions about what Jyggalag has to do with Lorkhan, Lorkhan's heart, and Lorkhan's return, this explains it better than I could:

Dyus highlights the difference between Sheogorath and Jygallag. Where Jygallag is about unity and predictability, Sheogorath deals with personal choice. Personal choice is something that simply didn't exist until Mundus came about. It's the result of an attempt at creating something that would be always new, eg. unpredictable. With the creation of Mundus, allot of the Daedra were also changed as the fundamental principles of the Aurbis where turned upside down.

Both points imply that Jygallag can no longer exist without turning into Sheogorath. Due to Mundus, complete predictability no longer exists and because of that, Jyg can never excist again. The ending speech of Jyg, giving plot exposition however trashes everything the story implied. He's set free al right, but he exists in a world that is no longer predictable. Doesn't leave much for the embodiment of predictability.

Enough words have been expended on the relationship between Lorkhan and Akatosh that I won't bother to go into it. I'll just remind everyone what went in the hole in Pelinal's chest. SI wasn't just some side romp "hey wouldn't it be cool if we went to Sheo's realm." Daggerfall->Morrowind->Oblivion->KotN->SI makes up a connected narrative.

Proweler, while thinking about Arden-Sul, Sheo, and Jyggy, could there be in the realm of possibility that the CoC may not have actually broke the cycle at all? Apparently Arden-Sul did become Sheo, yet the cycle continued. Could this be a case of trying the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results?
