I personally would like to see raiders sometimes go kamikaze (run up to me with a live gernade for example), I think it would add more of a threat to the otherwise weak raiders.
Whats your opinion?

What if on occasion when they are near dead? I mean its not like your going to stop shooting if they ran.
Well how were the gameplay mechanincs?
Was it just annoying, or was it a decent gameplay aspect. And if it was bad do got any ideas for improvment?
I don't really care if its been done, I mean Fallout isn't the first post apocalyptic RPG and I still like it.
Only if we can shout out "MEDIOCRE!" after they explode on us.
As long as they're intelligent. Don't come at me with a stupid pool cue when I'm heavily armored and armed. I hate stupid AI.
Occasionally I feel sorry for the little buggers and let them hit me a few times before I pop them in the head.
I don't really consider that going kamikaze, that's more like a banzai.
That's a totally cool concept, kamikaze raiders! I would love that in my Fallout game. Having to react rather quickly (maybe in vats) or seeing him/her from a distance running towards you & having to take them down sniper style, watching them explode from afar for comedic effect. Maybe even taking out other would-be raiders that are caught in the blast radius! Would make for some interesting game play as it did in Borderlands.
Kamikaze doesn't really make sense for a raider livin' high and mighty on Jet
Maybe a religious cult, but not a raider gang.
He means that dying to an enemy simply because you had no idea or no way of knowing they would suicide on touch is really lame. If however you're given fair warning, then it can work.
So what would need to happen is that it's presented only in a context where it's clear this'll happen (for example, maybe certain androids that are just endoskeletons without skin are used by the institute for this purpose) or there needs to be a very obvious animation they're gonna do it in order to give the player time to react.
i wouldnt mind seeing it as an uncommon varient of fleeing. as of right now if you damage an enemy enough they can flee, if however that could change and they instead run at you in an attempt to save their brethren i wouldnt mind. whough honestly this may make more sense for non raiders.
I was secretly hoping for a cover system as seen in Uncharted, GTA etc.
Still, limited AI could be helped by intelligent opponent placing and synergetic opponent variety. In Skyrim for example you could have a cave ith 5 bandits; 2 archers, 2 melee guys and 1 healer. The archers protect their mates from vantage points, and the healer makes sure that the melee guys stay alive. Even if their individual AIs are not great, the encounter is still challenging because the opponents complement each other well and the positions they started from gave them an advantage. Something similar could work out pretty well for Fallout 4.
It would also be great if opponents evaluated your equipment and decided if they should be fleeing right away (the power armor vs. baseball bat case).
And Fallout 3
But sure, I think that kind of behaviour suits the setting.
Edit: Post 12000!!
...although I used to have over 13000
From that video the AI looks as dumb as ever. Raiders not bothering to get out of the way of PA+Minigun?! Yeah they may as well have a 1/3 chance or something to suicide bomb you and take some significant damage.
From what we've seen of Raiders in F3, they seem like the Fiends in New Vegas in that they're mostly drugged up. I wouldn't put it past someone who is in a heavily psycho'd up state to blow themselves up. Or maybe even jet, "I'm flying!", BOOM!
It'd probably be the only way to redeem their fodder status at this point.
