Keeping journals

Post » Tue Feb 25, 2014 2:48 pm

I've just crossed over into the nerdy point of no return and started writing a journal as my newest Skyrim character. It's actually pretty satisfying and helps me stay in character while playing (I like roleplaying but sometimes get sick of the more mundane aspects as I've played the game with only small breaks since it came out.)

I've seen a few mods that let you write in game, and I've seen a couple hand-written examples like http://imgur.com/a/06q4x#0 (this person is like a nerd's nerd... pretty awesome).

I like it because since I'm playing as a real person (sort of myself actually) I can write whatever I want. Personal anecdotes and such. Again, it's fairly refreshing to this oldish game. I'm thinking of posting mine online, wondered if anyone else here does that and where I could read it.

I've done something similar on the PC, writing a journal in Word, but this is an awesome idea. I love handwritten stuff. I'm definitely going to give this a try! :D

I actually stumbled upon an app recently that allows for you to do exactly what you're saying!

That sounds like a very usefull app, but since I don't have a smartphone I guess I'm going to do this the old fashioned way: by writing everything down.

Yea, I have several notebooks filled with character journals. Heck I tend to keep a notebook of almost all my games. I use to keep them on my computer, but it's more risky since anything can happen and delete all my notes.

...Now that I think of it, the majority of my roleplaying time is spend writing, when I'm in game, it's like the barebones of what happened, once i get my pencil and notebook out, I put "the meat on the bones". :P

That is awesome. I especially love that it's shared information. Reminds me of the little bit I played of Dark Souls sorta.

That's what I was saying... "meat on the bones." Have you ever shared them online or anything? And do you do "journals," like:

17th of Last Seed,

Blah blah blah. I went here and did this...

Or do you do more like info for you to remember, like an ingredients list for specific potions so you don't have to look online online or whatever...?
