Keeping the King alive

Post » Sat Jul 31, 2010 6:57 pm

In King's Gambit, I went and talked with Hsu, made it back to the King and Pacer, who were surrounded by NCR. I told the King that that the NCR would give Freeside more supplies if the violence were to stop. He agreed. Pacer started his little speech, "I'm gonna stop you from making a big mistake" to the King. I tried killing Pacer before he becomes hostile, after he becomes hostile, at the exact moment he becomes hostile: it doesn't seem to matter. The NCR opens fire, the Kings quickly become hostile to me, and a bloodbath ensues until all the Kings, including the King himself, are dead. I would much rather have it end peacefully. According to the game guide, this should be possible. Any insight as to what I might be doing wrong, or is this simply a glitch? Any tricks to preventing it?

Thanks in advance. :foodndrink:

I don't know about the path you're taking but if you complete G.I Blues for The King, you can use your favor to complete King's Gambit peacefully.

Thanks. The dialogue kinda led me to believe that, but unfortunatley I had already used up my one favor. Doh! Anybody else?
