Oh here we go with the "Morrowind was the greatest game of all time and Oblivion svcked" cultist crap. Drop some of your fanaticism and open your eyes and look at Oblivion. What makes an RPG is Gameplay, lore and the world. Oblivion had better gameplay with the improved combat system, voice over and new AI. Morrowind had a insanely good main quest line but [u[Oblivion had a better overall world with all the side quests being far more entertaining and in depth than those of Morrowind.[/u]
So what I'm telling you to do is instead of insulting Oblivion, actually try to get into it. Morrowind isn't as great as you think it is, it's good but it has far more flaws than Oblivion does and if you count which game is better depending on the flaws then Morrowind loses by quite a large margin.
How do you come to that conclusion. Now, I've made it very clear that I think Morrowind is the greatest game on the planet, but I acknowledge it's many faults, and the many things Oblivion does better. But never once in that game did I feel the quests (Pertaining to mostly faction-quests) were entertaining or deep.
I believe the main reason for that is they were very much insulated against the rest of the game world. No action or decision in Oblivion really carries weight with it. Of course, there's exceptions, especially hilarious is the Dark Brotherhood quest result for Killing that Bosmer Balin(?), his Nord Bodyguard frequenting the bar in and drowning the echoes of his failure.
But anyway, for the most part, every aspect of the game seemed so separated from the game world itself, even the Main Quest.
Personally, I'm not sure how Ken Rolston's abscence will play into the game Skyrim. They may have brought in a lot of new talent, and among them could be a new prodigy of game design. If we were just coming off of Oblivion, I might say we have a problem, but Fallout 3 fixed a lot of what was wrong. Looking at the game Ken Rolston is working on right now, I'm not exactly sure how much input he has, but it doesn't resonate with me in any way at all. But, I also generally hate Todd Mcfarlanes artistic style.
