Key Binding

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:29 pm

There is one thing that I hoped never to see again in a PC game, and that's "that button is reserved."

We went through all this with Skyrim, too, ended up having to extract and alter game files just to bind freaking keys.

Good job, I wouldn't call it a "bug," just a misdesign, but I didn't even get into character creation before I found something broken.

I don't suppose anyone knows enough about this engine to know if I can even start looking in the same places for the binding information?

edit: found two more problems, off to the bug forum - so when the modders get bored they can add it to the unofficial patch.

It also seems that Hold Breath when using a scope cannot be rebound. Which is very annoying as i've always used Spacebar as my go-to button for aiming. However i cannot press both alt and spacebar without letting go of my movement keys.

And yah, not being able to rebind to certain keys is a problem aswell. I got all kinds of extra mouse buttons that are considered Numpad keys, however these keys are unbindable so i cannot use any of my extra mouse buttons.

Multi-function keys, thats another one that's bothering me. Either you bind your bash key to let you quick melee or quick grenade, but you cannot seem to have both at the same time because they are forced on the same key. I can understand that for button constraints this would be needed for a controller, but i got plenty of available buttons that i could assign.

The auto-lootbox function is something that should be an optional toggle. I've only played 3hours so far and it's been a source of irritation a few times now already. Trying to reload, but nope you open a loot window with a corpse/container you were looking at. Which also comes back a bit to multiple functions on one key.

Overall i do really enjoy Fallout 4, in many ways it is absolutely great. But UI, keybindings and options are just aweful

Agreed with OP, it's absolutely stupid not being capable to rebind keys at will. However, I'm afraid that's the wrong forum.

Seriously this is a joke. In this day and age, not being allowed to rebind keys the way you want? Unreal. I use my mouse with my left hand and use the numpad keys for movement and other things. AND I'm not even f'ning left handed. This is just what works for me. I cannot and will not use wasd. For a design philosophy of "play the game how you want" and "do what you want" this is quite funny to F me over and keep me from doing just that. Whatever system they reserve it for (same as Skyrim) I dont even know what is and don't give a sht, I never used it. Hopefully mod comes out soon to fix this.

Actually this is not the wrong forum, though this has been reported about 50 times in the bug forum.

This isn't a bug report, this is more of a Bethesda Is Up To Their Old Lossage report.

Other games do the same thing... or even fail to allow rebinding at all, for that matter. If you want to point fingers, stop pointing only at BGS because they are not alone by any means.
