Keyboard Function help

Post » Thu Oct 21, 2010 6:26 pm

Need help on how to change my keyboard config settings.

I know how to change them in the games settings/device and i want to change the other keys that do not show in the options menu.

(EXE) i want to use the num pad + to activate my pipboy.... now i can get it to activate but to make it close i have to go all the way to the TAB key to remove the pipboy. i want to use numpad + for both functions.

But if i change the pipboy to TAB key to activate it ,it will and it will also remove, which must mean there must be some file that controls other function in the directorys

Maybe a Mod or some program out there or maybe it could be as simple as a cfg file that i need to enter in

Any help would be awsome.

I've done searches but only come up with fixes for other games

Sorry, but if you can't change it in your options you can't change it all. Many of the default keys have been hardcoded and there's no mod that can get around it.

Try it with NumLock both on and off. I've seen that make a difference before.

You can also directly edit the FalloutPrefs.ini in your "My Documents/My Games/Fallout 3" folder.

Menu Mode=000FFF0B

The first four digits "000F" are the keyboard code, TAB in this case.

The next two "FF" are the mouse key, but in this case the FF indicates that no mouse key is assigned to this control.

The last two digits "0B" are, if I recall correctly, the joystick key assignment.

You can get key codes here: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/IsKeyPressed2

You want the HEX code, but ignore the "0x" for keyboard keys and the "0x1" for mouse keys.

With Oblivion I was able to use this method to assign hotkeys to mouse wheel up and mouse wheel down, but with Fallout 3 you can't turn off the mouse wheel zoom so it doesn't work properly.
