No keyboard input

My game is heavily modded, yes, but it was working fine - 6 months ago. I haven't even so much as looked at the game in all that time. It was working fine before.

Six months later, I load it up, and it will register mouse input, but not keyboard input. Not at all. I can alt+tab, but that's it.

I googled it, found this page:

http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patchnotes6.htm

I did what was recommended to my Oblivion.ini, still no luck.

I'm completely at a loss. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Usually this is a codec issue. If you have Vista/Win7, try installing the Klite Basic Codec Pack. Be sure it is set to repair broken codecs on install. If it still doesn't want to work, I have heard rumors that sometimes UNinstalling it will have an effect as well. Not data on that though.

If you have XP, you can try http://nightmare2013.brashendeavors.net/.

I'm on Vista. I had that before, but apparently an old version. It uninstalled the old one and installed the new one. No effect. I uninstalled it. No effect. Reinstalled it, no effect.

:(

This day has been very upsetting, this is just making everything worse, like the universe has decreed everything must svck for me today.

I appreciate you trying to help me though.

Ok, next step is to grab some flavor of Codec Manager.... (installed codec seems popular), and start disabling codecs a few at a time, and see if you can find the offending codec. At one point, another member was able to bypass this issue, by turning of music in the oblivion.ini, located in My games\Oblivion. Look for the setting:

bmusicenabled=1

Change the 1 to a 0, and try again. See what happens. (yeah, I know, seems really bizarre, but, its a beth game, I EXPECT 'bizarre'....)
