Keyboard/Mouse input stops working 3 minutes into gameplay

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:34 am

Everytime I boot up the game "Oblivion" for my PC which I just purchased, the game will run fine for about 5 minutes and suddenly the mouse/keyboard will stop working. The game will still be running normally, and when i minimize out of it my mouse/keyboard work fine, but in the game they don't. This forces me to exit out, reload the game, and start from my last save. Needless to say I haven't made it out of the tutorial dungeon yet. I've tried reinstalling 3 times...what is my problem?

I have tried going to the Oblivion.ini file and changing the joystick to =0 instead of =1, hasn't helped.

This problem is commonly tied to codecs on your system that the game does not like. A strong potential solution would be to install K-Lite's Codec Pack (Basic...add 64-bit as well if your operating system is one):
http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

This is a codec replacer that installs less intrusive codecs.

Also, you wouldn't happen to be running XFire's messaging system would you?

No XFire messaging system, but I'll definitely give the link you gave me a try. Thanks so much!

Ok, installed it, and it fixed every problem I had with the system. Thanks so much!
