Khajiits and Argonians

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:45 pm

I want Morrowind's shape but Oblivion's utility. HOWEVER I think beast races should have to purchase specially made boots and helmets...I really don't think they should be able to equip an otherwise normal-looking helmet and suddenly have it fit their head shape like elastic.

I want Morrowind's shape BUT I want better walking animations. I want to see them walk a little more naturally and not like they're really uncomfortable on their own legs.

I want beast races from Arena!

Okay, not really, that would probably piss off a ton of people. I would like Morrowind's if they generally looked better, had better animations, and were able to use all equipment.

I'm expecting something completely different for both races, especially the Khajiit because they have a number of sub-species.

I am with the group who actually wants them to be beasts, and not humans in a Halloween costume.

^ This.

I can understand some peoples point of view on this, but oblivions were'nt that bad....yeah it could be improved.
Like one poster said,at least let khajiit's & argonians use their claws, maybe even their teeth to some extent, thats more beast like.
Also, now we have the sprint ability ( which is great by the way ) khajiits should be able to sprint faster than any other race in my view, maybe even jump higher & further etc.
Funny thing is.....i always play human charcters....but things like that would help the beast race.

I voted Oblivion in both cases.

While I think they could use more unique hands/feet, I think Oblivion did fine with tails and Morrowind took it too far for my tastes. More animal than Oblivion but more human than Morrowind in my opinion.

I really liked the design of Khajiits and Argonians in Morrowind, but not being able to wear helmets and gloves would be a big disadvantage. Therefore my suggestions is that the beast races get a natural bonus which makes them physically superior to the humanoids. For instance, 10+ Speed or athletics, argonians swim a lot faster than other races, Khajiits being able to naturally jump higher, better hand to hand than other races (scratching), etc.

Definitely Morrowind style but with the ability to wear boots and helmets. Beast races need to look beastial the whole human look was rather weird after playing Morrowind for so long. Given the new Havok tech they got and how its designed to work it shouldn't really require any extra effort for animation on beast style models. As i recall i think the reason they used human style bodies in Oblivion was due to the large amount of time they'd need to rig all the animations on a beast model.

The beast races looked stupid in Morrowind, I really liked them much more in Oblivion. Though they should make those races a bit more beastly, I really didn't like the way they looked in Morrowind.

I want to pounce and grab things with my claws. Lightning fast reaction time too. Max out some skills and catch arrows mid air and "give" it back to the shooters face. :ninja:

Did anyone who wants them to be morrowind style actually play them in vanilla morrowind? If you did surely you thought to yourself the animations are TERRIBLE and the dysfunctionality of no helm and boots was horrible. I don't mind big feet but in skyrim they will get frostbite and lose them. Oblivion style were far superior, I really do prefer oblivion style.

If they gave the skyrim argonians upright bodies with morrowind style faces I would be happy. And hopefully by more beast like he meant purely appearance, horns spikes and big spiky rough scales. Like an Iksar. And they are still upright with their own face models.

If they're morrowind style first mod I'm getting is one that makes them upright

Morrowind shape, and Morrowind equipment - but with a tool to adjust boots to make them fit. Somehow.
Seriously, they are BEAST RACES, not "men with beast-head races".

I did. Loved 'em. As for the animations, yeah they svcked, but ALL of Morrowind's animations svcked. It's not just a "beast problem".

I don't think it's impossible to have the beastly appearance withoutcompromising what they can wear. Make their feet bend up at the toes like they should, but still have them not much longer than a human foot. Then, it's still within the realm of believability to stretch the boots a bit so that they fit and only the toe part touches the ground. Maybe give them a disadvantage wearing them because their feet are not well designed for using heavy footwear, but I don't want to have another situation where I can't wear my boots of blinding speed because I'm an Argonian.

I liked the way Beasts looked in Morrowind. when they were standing still. Their walk cycle was derfy. I'd like them to have the "look" of Oblivion (head shape, fur, non-derfiness), but the stance of Morrowind (somewhat hunched, walking on paw pads, etc.)

I voted for Oblivion on both options but I'm actually divided on the first option.

I want the Khajiit to be more like Oblivion but the Argonians to be more like Morrowind. As far as I know, Argonians are the only playable race that are not descendents of the Ehlnofey. So, they should be as alien as possible. In contrast, I prefer Khajiit upright since they came from the source of all mer and men.

I looked it up and it sounds like all races are descended from Ehlnofey, Argonians included. Could be just a similar situation to how all reptiles and mammals (and birds, but that's not important) originally descended from amphibians (Pretty sure, but I could be off on that). Doesn't mean they have the same feet.

A poll where Morrowind is not winning. Praise the gods, this is a historic day. I think Morrowind's beastfolk made more sense though. What's the point if they've human bodies with only an animal head.

now that Crafting is in, i think Beast races should be able to craft Boots and Fullhelms that fit their bodys.

From the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-annotated-anuad:
On the world of Nirn, all was chaos. The only survivors of the twelve worlds of Creation were the Ehlnofey and the Hist. The Ehlnofey are the ancestors of Mer and Men. The Hist are the trees of Argonia.

Many believe that the Hist created the Argonians.

EDIT:

On the Khajiit, Pelinal mistook them for Aldmeri so they shouldn't look or walk too different (http://www.imperial-library.info/book/export/html/15):
Pelinal Whitestrake, Nibenay warlord of the Elven Pogrom, mistook the khajiit for another strain of Aldmeri and killed many of their number before realizing his error

Well, yes, there is no actual evidence that the Hist created the Argonians, though.

As for the second thing, well there are 2 breeds of Khajiit that look almost completely uncatlike (seems silly to me, especially since they all start off as kittens, but I didn't write the lore), but most breeds of Khajiit are basically various types of cat.

Wouldn't mind if they were a bit more "beastly" than in Oblivion but the Morrowind beast races were absolutely terrible in every aspect.

I just can't find any evidence to suggest that Argonians "descended from Ehlnofey" so I'm going to continue to assume that their origin is more alien. Also, the evidence we do have suggests that the Argonians are tied closely to the Hist (i.e., they can sicken from being cut off from the Hist, licking the Hist is part of the passage into advlthood, etc.).

So, at the moment I prefer theories that assume the Hist created/changed the Argonians and that they did not come from the Ehlnofey.

If we are going to stay with the biped versions, I'd rather they keep their posture similar to mer.

Perhaps they'll be Cathay or Cathay-raht?
Maybe one day I can ride on a Senche...dreams.

I personally am not too fond of how they look in Oblivion or Daggerfall, really. I actually like their look in Morrowind with their crazy legs and their looking like what beast-folk aught to look like.

As far as wearing boots and whatnot is concerned I'd be fine if they couldn't, Khajiit lend themselves more toward stealth than outright confrontation as it is, so that extra bit of armor really didn't mean much to them, same goes for helmets. Now, if they do get some nifty boots that fit their crazy-legs, that'd be just swell, too.
