Khajiits and Argonians

I'd like if the MW way returned, because it made beast races a bit different and unique to normal races.

Surely it would be cruel making them walk around on all that snow without footwear. =P

They'ed be fine without footware...well khajiits would anyway.....there are snow cats/leopards,bears,wolves,all have paws and can live with the cold.
Its the argonians that would struggle in the cold.

People seem to want their cake and eat it too. If you go with the beast races as they were in Morrowind, it only makes sense that they can't wear certain helms or footwear. I think as long as their racial abilities are stronger or more useful than the other races, lack of helmet and footwear support would be fine.

indeed argonians should breath underwater swim faster run faster, and khajits should jump higher sneak better and have night eye when its dark (not spell like)

they should be pretty balanced without boots I guess :P

They are people so I think it would be odd for them to not have boots or helmets.

Should they not wear lower clothes because standard armor doesn't accommodate tails? That makes as much sense as not allowing helmets or boots. How far do you want to take that?

This. Same basic shame as oblivion, only much thinner and with longer faces and inverted knees.

Sorry but this drives me nuts...those are ANKLES not knees. Do you know nothing about anatomy?

I struggled with the female looking Argonians - when did reptiles get mammary glands? They are supposed to have a completely different lineage than the rest of the races and should have looked more reptilian - am okay with Khajiit as long as they are snow leopard style

I voted Morrowind then Oblivion but its most likely going to be both on the Oblivion side of things because I dont think Bethesda is going to be biased I personally do not care because I play a Nord,Breton, or Dark Elf

Yes, bite his head off because he doesn't know the anatomy of quadrupeds as well as you do. Why exactly do you care?

And another thing: why does it always have to be Morrowind vs Oblivion? There's way too much factionalism within TES fans. Couldn't I say that I'm unsatisfied with both? Because I am. The beastrace animations in Morrowind were awkward and goofy looking, and Oblivion's "humans with animal heads" was equally goofy.

Models like MW and armor like OB - Make the armor adaptive to fit the different races. Add ear holes for Argonians and Khajits in Helmets, but don't make special holes for them

A good example of this is the armor. One armor for men and women, only on women it adapts to fit their bus.

I don't like either body types. MW had the issue of their models being WAY too skinny and awkward for my taste, while OB's was too human-like. However, I do like how both were able to wear boots and full helms in OB, though I'd like it if it was tweaked to have it so they wore ankle armor and modified full helms.

I would like to see a more intimidating beastmen, especially in the argonians case.

No kidding! Argonians should be more like the Lizardmen in Soul Calibur.

It's a peeve of mine. Besides, it's not exactly rocket science. All a person has to do to know that is to actually look at an animal with four legs. I'm sure most people have had at least one dog or cat in their lifetime.

Chances are they will take on a new look so its moot to debate over which is better. I'm pretty confident the Skyrim look to the races will be superior not just because the game is using more advanced technology but the developers are working with the same hardware throughout the enitre development process.

Here here. I hate in werewolf movies when they show a transformation and the legs bend backwards. Sure, it's an awesomely grotesque effect, but it MAKES NO SENSE.

this problem could be avoided very easily........just take those stupid animal crossing characters out of the game entirely. make up some reason why they arent in skyrim. maybe nords keep mistaking them for wildlife on their hunts and shoot them all by mistake. honestly the environment would be improved if they removed the pet store atmosphere.

if they have to be in the game then make them actually look at move like beast races. argonians should move more clumsily on land since their primary habitat is water however in water they should move much faster than other races. during conversations have a mouse tail dangling out of their mouth and a big lump in their throat or munching on a piece of lettuce. there eyes should start looking independently in odd directions while they are talking to you. khajit should be quicker and bouncier but easily distracted by yarn, silverware, rats (obviously) and should lick their crotches once in a while in the middle of a conversation. if you want beast races then lets not get skimpy.......make them actual beast races.

I think they should go similar to Morrowind in body shape, as far as the Digitigrade feet go. As far as helms go... Eliminate Close-faced helms entirely from the game, and have the new helms extend to fit the Beast muzzles where appropriate. If we're going to spend at least an hour on Face-gen again, It would be nice to see it without sacrificing my stats.

As far as animation goes: A digitgrade walk is no different than a plantigrade walk in the thigh and knee movement, except maybe a longer stride. However, they keep the balls of their feet parallel to the ground at all times. (In real life, I always walk on my toes, and have as long as I've remembered... so I'm partially speaking through personal experience). They can still wear boots, just have the bridge of the foot magically extend to accomodate it. The bow-legged walk in Morrowind was stupid (But then again, the Goose-step of the Plantigrade races was also stupid), but I did sort of like the run, with the feet apart to aid in stability... but it shouldn't be that exaggerated.

As far as movement in general, Khajiit animation should generally make the motion of the ankle resemble "Shock Absorbers," or the bouncy thing from Super Mario Bros in that the extra joint makes it clear they are adept at jumping.

Hopefully they'll ditch racial "Skill bonuses" such as Athletics, Acrobatics, and Hand-to-hand. Instead, Khajiit should jump 11/2-2x higher/longer than a Human of the same Acrobatics skill level, and the claws should give them a flat damage bonus to their unarmed attacks, instead of advancing their skills. Of course, they could still have the skill bonuses on top of these, but the point is... The different physiques should demonstrated altered mechanics. Of course, that could be all the justification for removing or restricting item slots as equivalent trade-off, instead of trying to shoehorn an arbitrary restriction (Such as Fewer Hitpoints/Reduced Damage) that would make them seriously less adept in another area. While some races should be better suited to some class archtypes than others, they shouldn't be excluded from any.

As far as hands go, Ideally, they'd have one fewer knuckle on each digit, due to it being replaced by a claw, but such a minor detail wouldn't really be worth the effort to remodel gauntlets to accomodate that ...unless the model automatically removes the finger meshes from gauntlets, leaving the Claws readied.

@the person who suggested six-briasted Khajiit: I'd second it, but only if they got it looking right. I'd elaborate, but it would probably go into TMI for those who don't understand or care about such details.

I think about anthro-feline anatomical structures too much. But it's what I do.
A return of the Ohmes(Arena) and Ohmes-Raht(Daggerfall Khajiit) would be fun, as long as it's not at the expense of their more zoomorphic counterparts. At least include the textures somewhere, even if they aren't implemented.

On the subject of textures... They should implement a method to procedurally-generate the textures displayed on the individual Khajiit and Argonians so each one has unique fur/scale coloration and pattern. Each NPC's generation seeds needs to be consistant and pre-determined for that character, so the appearances are consistant.

I did not vote because I don't like either options.

In morrowind the beast races just looked like they were wearing full diapers, and it really svcked that they couldn't wear boots/helms. C'mon, I'm sure some Argonian and Khajiit smiths exist. Or at least smiths that wouldn't mind taking their money for gear that fits them. They rectified this in Oblivion by making them entirely humanoid. Which also wasn't that great. I always liked the idea of them fighting with their claws in Morrowind.

I'm personally hoping we will see the Cathay-Raht with Khajiits. Jaguar men all the way! And I would be fine with Argonians being like Oblivion, just give the (and Khajiits) them ability to fight with their claws again.

Though, with the addition of being able to customize your body in Skyrim I wouldn't rule out seeing multiple Khajiit "breeds"

I want the digigrade legs from Morrowind, and would like to see armour from each group to have a beast version to suit those legs and heads. And yes bring back scratching for both Argonians and Kajiit. Scratching sounds so lame. How about bring back extensive laceration attacks. :P

Claw slashes? Khajiit claws are deadlier than Glass Daggers, according to the lore. However, hopefully the animation would be such they are actually displayed as treating their claws as a well-refined Martial Art.
