Kicked UPON joining a server

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 12:25 pm

Hi guys, now I've seen all those threads about people getting disconnected after 2-3 or 5 minutes of playing a MP round.

My issue seems to be different, or at least, faster - I get kicked from the server immediately after joining it (takes a few seconds, obviously). The message is "You have been kicked from the server", so it's different from those messages people get after being disconnected randomly.

Now, my NAT is shown as moderate (and hasn't changed regardless of what I did). I have a TP-Link router, and have tried forwarding that mass of ports mentioned somewhere in the forums, opening both the windows firewall and the one my AV (Eset) comes with (also tried setting up a special zone just for crysis2.exe), and I even tried a DMZ and it just didn't help. Still kicked immediately.

Do you think this could be actually caused by something else and not by connection? Any help or ideas appreciated.

EDIT: For anyone who thinks this is caused by the anti-cheat update being out and by me using cheats, you are not right. I haven't been able to play a single match yet, from the launch. I don't see why I'd post here, having cheated in a game I paid for ...

EDIT 2: List of what's been done by now with no success:
- ALL ports open (not just those marked as required, all ports - basically a DMZ) & verified they are open (using portchecker from portforward.com)
- Windows firewall completely disabled
- Antivirus firewall completely disabled
- Router & system QoS (quality of service) disabled
- Router (TP-Link R860) firmware update
- Reinstalling the game
- Launching the game without the Steam overlay

Did you join a custom server. Likely admins kick you or you picked a too far away server and it didn't like your connection and kicked you? SO many theories. Find a closer server. Especially Crysis 2 servers that are hosted under Crysis 2. More stable servers.

Ranked, ping 109, standard rules. I don't think I was instakicked 15 times due to custom rules ...

I have a digital version that isn't tied to Steam, but I was running it through Steam for the overlay, and thought I'd see if running it normally would help the case - well, obviously not.

Disabling virtually all other programs (even closing Steam itself) didn't help either.

I don't know what to do now. It surely shouldn't behave like this. I either screwed up when opening the ports in the router (but why should we still bother about such stuff these days ... oh yeah, Gamespy and profit, I know), or it's simply a game issue ... Let's hope the patch will do something about it.

I don't remember a game that behaved this way ... Not even when I was hosting a local server did I have to open ports. It was enough to create a zone in the AV firewall and everyone could connect ... That's offtopic, I know, but compared to what Crysis 2 seems to require, it was a walk in the park ...

Maybe it's an issue related to TP Link routers? I think the best thing we can do now is wait for the first patch to see if anything improves (the anti-cheat patch they released today didn't change anything).

go away you cheater, quote from Cry-Tom:

Today we released the first of a number of security updates, accounts that we have identified as exploiting an unfair advantage have been reset and if the activity persists they will be banned permanently. If you find yourself being kicked from every MP game it is because our systems have detected you cheating.

Dammit people, can you even see the date when I posted this thread?

Several days ago. This has been happening since the game is out, I haven't cheated. In fact, I haven't played a SINGLE match to date, because I've been unable to connect.

Thanks for your "great understanding".

I disabled all firewalls (as seen in the OP), opened all ports (like, all), created a DMZ zone (yeah, the PC was virtually undefended) and I still wasn't able to connect to a damn match.

Seeing there's a guy with a TP Link router having the same issue, I'll see if there's any new firmware for it available and see if it helps. Will let you know later.

If you have QoS in your router - try disabling it.

Haha, good to know.

So anyway, I updated the firmware of my router. This new firmware includes QoS, so I made sure it's disabled. Checked all ports to see if they were open (using portchecker from portforward.com), and indeed they are - tested with both the windows firewall and the antivirus firewall turned off.

It didn't help, though, and I'm still experiencing the exact same issue ... With all firewalls down, and all ports open (which is quite a ridiculous condition), I get kicked upon joining a server. I have no idea what's causing it, I've tried everything I could think about.

The next thing I'm going to do is wait for the patch.

Contact the EA support - you can usually get live chat support within 5 minutes! Really great also

No. I'm going to do that only if the next patch doesn't help it. In my experience, the EA support has never been able to help me other than saying all the generic responses. I'm not going to go through that before the first patch is out.

Did you update to 1.1 client patch already? And maybe it could help ya to figure what the problems is if you take a look at the Gamelogs in the LogBackups folder. Another problem could be that not all ports are forwarded by your router, tho.

Please read the OP properly and stop accusing me of doing something I haven't done. Plus, I believe this is the only current thread that addresses this specific issue (not random disconnects).

Yup, I launch the game via the launcher, and it seems to be working (I verified it nonetheless, and yes, the version is shown as 1.1 in the MP menu).

Thanks for your suggestion with those files, though, I haven't thought of that. I'm going to take a look.

Interesting. In all of those logs, there are a few errors related to:
- [libs/ui/menus_startmenu.gfx],
- [Error] Error: ConsoleVariableGroup 'sys_spec_water' key 'r_WaterReflections' is no registered console variable (and a lot of other similar messages),

but I think it isn't important. Now, there are also those lines:

<17:54:27> [net 15:54:27.237] connection requested to: -1,65715,173.199.110.48:64000

'Nub destroyed' ... xD
The real message I see is "You have been kicked from the server."

So, according to this, I'd assume the game doesn't recognize, or cannot connect, to GameSpy. What could be the reason? I have already stated all ports are open, and all firewalls are turned off for testing purposes.

I'm almost starting to believe that I'm a cheater.

I'm having the SAME problem. I've got a Fritz!Box router from AVM...
I also get 'Nub destroyed'... btw, If I try to log in to the multiplayer my game says it was unable to connect to multiplayer.
Then I have to click on login and it works, but the servers also doesn't start..
WTF?
Crytek, are you serious?
I already played since launch, for me it worked till now.. :(
And NO, I'm not a cheater or so
