i don't mind having them as long as they don't have funny voices and some how they have to be useful to you

Kids are confirmed in i believe but the OP is asking about having children of your own.

In that case... NO, GOD! NO, GOD, PLEASE, NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOO! That should stay away from TES.

I would prefer to keep sixual content out of TES. Also, having a kid and a family would maybe detract from the "open world" feeling. In Oblivion I loved going off places and having there be nothing but wilderness around you, with some dungeons and camps. Having someone along with you just wouldn't feel right.

I admit I've never played any of them. The fact that it included all this relationship and kids stuff put me off getting into the series properly.

You should play the first one... It was a legitimately good game imo. Second one was Meh, and I never played the third.

no, I doubt the game will have that sort of timescale
I'd love to see an episodic RPG that took place over years, perhaps a CRPG version of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendragon_(role-playing_game) but I can't see it fitting Skyrim

It really wasn't that big a deal. On the other hand, it also wasn't nearly the worst part of the game. (Fable 1, this is. Certainly never played any others after how bad 1 was.)

I've got to save the world from dragons and who knows what evil. How am I supposed to have time to raise a kid?

I think children only add to the game world. I thought Bioshock did a great job on children and they didn't start up any controversy over how they did them. I'm looking forward to seeing children walking the streets instead of just advlts and then wonder "How does the population persist?"

Due to the in-game time a playthrough will normally take we won't ever see them grow up. It's simply impratical + I think it won't fit the setting of your character.

Thats just one of those things it would be very hard to get just right, in Fable players would "pop out" children left and right without thought or even really cared for them. Would it be nice yes, though odds are they wouldnt get the feel right and they would have to pretty much make that there main feature that they would work on. I feel theres more important and better features they can focus on and are doing already, and it would just end up a gimmick.

I'm against kids in the game all together, but they are confirmed, so I'm not gonna [censored] about it.

But have them, hell no. This isn't Lionhead and Fable were talking about.

And give them weapons? You're insane. That would rquire making them killable, which is bad, or leaving them with their industrictability (or however you spell it) and make it one of the most OP things in the game.

"The dragons are coming! The dragons are coming!"
"Don't worry! Assemble an army of 12-year-olds!"

Yea....no.

Ew. It would be foolish of me to say that this "couldn't" be done in an effective and tasteful manner. But I just can't see it happening.

No. I really did not like kids in Fallout. Though it doesn't make much sense, having nothing but advlts and no kids, making it impossible to reproduce, I prefer they keep it like in the other games.

The absense of kids in computer games has been rather well documented ( :hubbahubba: ), and yet games haven't exactly had a problem with popularity as a product (i.e. very few people have complained about the lack of children in the past). As such, I wouldn't say that "making sense" is necessarily a requirement for a game becoming popular (although it never hurts, as long as you're adding it in correct amounts).

Ditch the kids, they add little to the game other than slightly more realism that isn't the focus of most players anyways. Or at least don't oversell it, it's not that big of a deal, Bethesda.
