Kiling Darion

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:14 pm

I saved the girl who was locked up by the Khans, and after approaching the leader of the squatters w/ Tandi's deal, he says I should kill Darion. How tough is he? I've got an assault rifle (60% small arms), Sulik w/ a P90, Vic with a shotgun, and I was about to get Cassidy. I'm level 6, do you think I can take him?

What level should I be?

There is no specific level that you should be, but considering you're only level 6 and I am usually at least level 12 when I reach NCR and even then I sometimes wait with doing that quest because of weak equipment or other reasons, maybe you should backtrack a little and do some quests you can find earlier in the game

I had to get Marcus before I could do it, and even then there were one or two reloads. Mind you I was level 15 and didn't have any energy weapons yet, I think at the time I was still using the sniper rifle. And start upping your small arms skill, your going to need it.

The thing is, you are going to attempt to wipe out a vault full of well armed raiders. Its no easy task at mid-level, let alone when you've only just reached level 6, and have such a low weapons skill.

one word Bozaar

Punctuation probably would have given that sentance more impact.

I think you can manage. Depending on how you play the game. Run in with guns blazing wont get you anywhere. But if you pick em' off one by one and have a pretty good crit, then you could probably aim in some eye shots and what not and get by. This strategy will take time tho, and probably a fair amount of reloads :P... Trick is to create some bottlenecks here and there and it can be done.

Edit:
Should also say that you'll need 9-10 action points to do this...

He's got 60% in his weapons skill. Thats really low. His chance to hit is going to be pathetic.

Depending on distance, yes. If hes standing 'round a corner or something and gets a point blank on them, it can be done. But as i said, a fair amount of reloads! And i would like to have a shotgun doing this, The Jackhammer preferably!

The .223 pistol would be a good side arm to accompany the Pancor Jackhammer.
I really wouldn't recommend trying it though, it will be very tedious.

I was going to try to get some screens of the people in Vault 15, but i keep getting killed on the way there. I may have done it already anyway.

Bozar...

Personally I enjoy the aroma of burning flesh so I usually torch him...the fire animation is hilarious !
You can easily get within range of him before he starts talking...

I always keep a flamethrower handy for close up work....

The .223 pistol with targeted shot usually does critical....aim for the eyes Boo !

You can get a Bozar as soon as you get to New Reno ( well almost...you need the electronic lockpick and a decent repair skill.)

I loved my Bozar....sniff...I sure miss her..

Maybe I'm a hardcoe Fallouter, but I remember clearing the Vault at a fairly low level without companions. The key is lots of stimpacks, target the eyes with a sniper/hunting rifle/.223 pistol. You can usually one shot kill them with eye crit hits. If you kill Darion first the rest shouldn't be too much trouble.

My personal preference for this particular part of the game is to be around level 12, have a sniper rifle for myself, a hunting rifle or scoped hunting rifle on Vic and a good SMG on sulik. What I tend to do is shoot from extreme long range using aimed shots to the eyes (the theory being if you cant see, you cant shoot) which seems to work. Also head shots can stun opponents giving you an almost guaranteed kill as they lie unconsious. Giving sulik a load of stimpacks is a good idea as he will take a real kicking. However if youre good enough with small guns and are a little lucky you should be able to incapacitate or blind every nasty opponent and be able to get darion himself in the same manner.

This technique comes into play again in the sierra army depot. Take out the gun turrets with and aimed shot to the sensors (their eyes in effect) and they will cease shooting at you. Allowing you to pick them off with relative ease.
