Kill chicken in riverwood = whiterun bounty

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:56 pm

What the heck is this garbage? I killed a chicken with a bow and this crap happens. They didn't even try to arrest me in whiterun, just kill on sight.

Riverwood is in the same hold as Whiterun, so the crimes are tracked together, therfore kill Chicken in Riverwood means death penatly in Whiterun. Its not garbage.

I think the garbage he is referring to, is that killing a chicken earns you a death penalty.

Are the chickens themselves still reporting crimes?

Have you tried equipping/sheathing your weapon when the guards in whiterun are attacking you?

If you play with your weapons out, it makes a difference.

Chickens, cows, horse, and dogs will report crimes. Killing chickens earns you the contempt of the entire hold and there is no forgiveness for their murder. Best to kill all witnesses if you plan on slaying chickens.

Someone probably owns the chickens. They probably sell the eggs and such. So you basically killed their livelihood and that's a very serious crime.

I...don't get the problem with Cows/Chickens reporting crimes....those...those eyes always looking at me...
Horses though...how do they report they are stolen?!? Makes no sense!

How do you know I stole it when the guy I stole it from is DEAD, so you reported that I stole you, but you DIDNT report that I KILLED your owner?

also...Comment on the link above" Presumably a wizard with a decent Command Creature spell could actually get chickens to work as undercover surveillance."

That...would be epic...

They can report other chickens being murdered, but they can't report their own murder. :spotted owl:

Yep, and now the owners are going to have a slow death. You are worse than the dark brotherhood, no wonder the guards wanted to kill you

I killed a stormcloak messenger running near Solitude... an imperial city, in the middle of the war.. and I got a bounty.

I was royally p****d and refused to help them kill any more stormcloaks for a while until someone said sorry.

They never did and I had to pay it off. :(

Whiterun didn't use to care about livestock until a chicken took an arrow to the knee. (sorry : / )

How you feel if someone walked into your house and shot your dog?

Chickens provide food, in a settlement like riverwood they are an essential part of their lives. Did you expect people to celebrate your heroic defeat of the foul fowl?

The game doesn't have guns.

The chicken belongs to a farmer, the farmer sells the eggs, the farmer pays taxes to the Jarl. No chicken no taxes, homicidal Jarl. Or its a bug.
