Kill 6 Deathclaws without a weapon. Seriously?

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 2:15 pm

For a Lunchbox.

For a Stimpak. 100 Caps. An Enhanced BB Gun. 500 Caps.

I traded the lives of 75 dwellers (multiple revivals over multiple attacks) for a Stimpak, 100 Caps, An Enhanced BB Gun, and 500 Caps.

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

That's pretty insulting, and I can take a lot of slaps in the face before I get riled.

I feel bad for the lunchbox crap u got but what ever happened to the days when people liked a little bit of a challenge.....so what u have to kill a few death claws without weapons it gives u a fun challenge to try and if not.....SKIP IT AND DONT [censored]....games used to be challenging and u would feel a sense of pride beating it.....now people whine and cry so much about the game not being easy to beat or taking actual effort they aren't challenging anymore.....who cares if u get a crazy objective once in a while it gives us overseers something to do.... Specially since we've been crying about nothing to do once u hit full vault and now that we have it we are crying? No doesn't work like that....of u don't like the way something is built go away cry to someone who cares and most importantly....GO MAKE YOUR OWN GAME....otherwise stop whining I like the challenge it provides. THANKS BETHESDA for making something a little interesting although it's not to some.

Actually, everything isn't kittens and rainbows. Forums exist for the purpose of providing feedback, and it's not always positive. So, if Bethesda put in a horrible objective that is far too much work for what it' worth (and yes, unless you were guaranteed a Legendary weapon, killing six deathclaws with no weapons is not worth it) and people find that to be a problem, they have every right to complain about it. If you don't like someone's negative feedback, guess what you can do? Ignore their post.

Yeah, that one would be pretty much an automatic dismiss if it ever popped up in my game.

Well has the overseer. U have to take the best decision for your resident. You cleary are not fit for this position, since you have accepted a very dangerous challenge, with an uncertain quality reward.

The problem is not the quest but your acceptance of it.

and I also heard they had a new quest to kill all your resident for a lunch box: are you gonna do it?

I would let my dwellers kill a few deathclaws without a weapon (or kill all of them) for some kind of game center/google play achievement.

If ever there was an objective crying out for my daily deletion, "Barehanded Defeat of 6 Deathclaws" is it!

Well, that and "Give Birth to 14 Baby Dwellers".

Killing any deathclaw without a weapon is a cakewalk.

Follow these steps and you complete these objectives within an hour or even less...

1) Summon deathclaws by opening the vault door. Send out dwellers with no stims out into the wastes, one by one and recall them immediately. Opening the Vault door increases the chances of Deathclaw attack.

2) Once a Deathclaw attack starts, study the route they take when raiding your vault. Make sure you only have 3 dwellers max guarding the rooms. This increases the chance to select them and give them stims to keep them alive. Micromanaging 6 dwellers is suicide.

3) Closely study the last surving Deathclaw. Make sure you know in which room the final Deathclaw dies.

4) Don't change dwellers and their equipment save for the last room where the dwellers killed of the previous Deathclaw. Unarm all the dwellers in the room and just to be sure, unarm the dwellers in the rooms after this.

5) Summon Deathclaws and behold, your objective meter fills up with every Deathclaw that had been taken down.

It isn't necessary to kill of a Deathclaw COMPLETELY barehanded. Just the last few HP that are taken of by unarmed dwellers counts as A FULL KILL.

P.s.

You won't get any more objectives regarding the production of babies or let dwellers dance once you hit +/-170 dwellers...

So the "don't touch enemy with a weapon" thing resets when they change room?

I had same objective with molerats and I didn't get any points towards the objective when I disarmed my dwellers during the the fight and molerats were finished with bare hands, but it all happened in the same room. Because of this I thought that objective is failed if any dweller has damaged enemy with a weapon.

I had this objective cleared over ten times now. The number of Deathclaws needed varied from 3 to 6 but they all counted as a kill in the last room. I didn't change anything during the fight. Just make absolutely sure that the last room(s) the deathclaw passes through, (the other two should be dead by now and the last one is running on fumes) are guarded by unarmed dwellers. If you don't mind a few casualties, you can max out the occupation of the last room(s). Just make sure they are unarmed before the attack starts, just in case. If you do it exactly like I described, it is really a piece of cake.

This also works on raiders. Molerats and radroaches are best killed by rushing rooms staffed by unarmed dwellers. Don't wait out for them, let them come to you.

The trick is to use the games' mechanics in your advantage to get you lunchboxes fast. I have over 20 lunchboxes each week if I put effort in it.

For example, I got every training room maxed out and upgraded, twice. All dwellers assigned here are just waiting for e.g. "Raise intelligence of 20 dwellers". I immediatly raise the intelligence of the already present 12 dwellers and replace them with 12 new ones, preferably low on intelligence. This way, I'll only have to wait for about an hour to farm the remaining 8.

This goes for all SPECIAL attributes, off course.

Try not to level up dwellers untill you get the objective to" level up X dwellers". Just let them do whatever they are doing and "farm" them when you need to.

Have dwellers awaiting their return from the wasteland? Let them wait a while until you get the objective to collect X weapons or armors.

The REALLY annoying objectives are to sell off +1.000 items.

I wondered if finishing them off unarmed would count. Next time it comes up I'll do it that way.

I also create a single, base level 'failure room' for the 'Stop X Incidents' and 'Extinguish X Fires' objectives. High level dwellers extinguish fires and stomp mole rats almost immediately so I just rush it over and over until the objective is complete. Their happiness ends up at 10 percent, but I just cycle them thru a few different rooms with a successful rush and they're back at 100 in no time.

Got something similar. Got a few single room medbays and science stations. I staff them with high int and luck dwellers. Those objectives are tedious but can be done. The single room incidents are way easier compared to three-room incidents. The most annoying part of it is that the rush button is covered by the objectives progression pop up... I need a bigger phone.

But I guarantee you that the barehand Deathclaw trick works.

That screenshot made me laugh. I thought up a maze when I first got around it, too. But there really is no need for such a layout. Raiders and Deathclaws follow the exact same pattern every single time. In my current set up, I got two double rooms and a single room for them to pass. These three rooms are occupied by heavily armed guards, fat mans, missile launchers etc. After they passed the elevator at the right of the screen (the first elevator right after the door is a dummy and leads nowhere) they go down one floor. Then they have to pass another single room which is also occupied by an armed guard with a Gauss rifle. After this room there isn't anything else on this floor so they go back to the elevator. When they drop down to the next level (-2) they have to pass a three-room storage which is only occupied when this objective comes up, by 6 unarmed dwellers. After that room is another three-room storage with yet 6 more unarmed dwellers. Each Deathclaw attack gives me 1 unarmed kill.

The game gives you to option to delete objectives once a day and you should know by now the lunch boxes are random even attempting that one is totally on you

All in favor of objectives that award more than one lunchbox (2, 3, 4, or 5...) based on relative difficulty, say aye.

But yeah I agree that objective in general is complete BS, especially since it doesn't count any hand-to-hand kills if the deathclaw is weakened first using weapons. To even attempt this objective you basically need to unequip every weapon from every dweller in your vault and hope the deathclaws show up and kill them before the molerats do.
