Kill that scumbag!

So I have been looking for a death penalty mod, to make me think about commiting murder a bit more intensively, but the only one I can find is this one, http://www.filefront.com/6103367/Death-Sentence-v1.0/ which for some reason wont even save to my computer. Anybody have an alternative or mirror site?

You know, I was just daydreaming the other day that if you have a bounty of over 1000 and a murder, you'd be sentenced to hanging. I always thought that a mod that penalizes a player for playing a "dead" character combined with some serious punishment type mods would actually encourage more discretion or at least more visits to the Chargen sequence.

There are a couple of "hardcoe" mods out there already. And there are mods with alternatives to death and reloading, complete with penalties for the character.

My ideal for such a mod would be one where you have to create a new character (get reincarnated), but where all the progress you made in various quests and the impact you had on the world remained.

That would be brilliant! Pick up where the previous PC left off but at level 1 again. No emperor to let you through the cell tho, but it'd still be open? If only....

I like that idea a lot, too. :) To avoid it feeling like "Mario has extra lives," I'd rather see it integrated with an alternate start mod, not have you always spawn in the dungeon cell. (That's coming from someone who's never installed an alternate start mod!)

It would be a major undertaking to do it just right... for it to really feel like a new character, you'd want to reset some quests (guilds, etc.) while leaving others completed (major MQ stages, stand-alone side quests). There would need to be new hooks to pick up where you left off; e.g. if the player still has the amulet when he dies, there would need to be some believable way to get it into the new player's hands without relying on (or excessively rewarding) player knowledge of where you died and/or what killed you.

I'd actually considered two scenarios (of course, I can't actually make this mod).

One would have true re-incarnation, on the assumption that your character is an agent of the Divines and once he/she gets killed their ass gets kicked back down to finish the job. In this case you'd have full knowledge of people and events that had gone before and would be able, with some work, to pick up where you left off before.

In the other one you are a new character entirely and have to wander into the middle of the situation and figure it out for yourself. I figure this one would need some randomization of where you left things.

In either case, it wouldn't really work in a proper way unless the dialogue system was overhauled in order to be able to make people not recognize you, and to prevent the player from exploiting "unknown knowledge".
