Kill the BoS?

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2010 2:55 am

I seem to have reached an impasse in the game as the NCR wants me to wipe out the BoS and I won't do it and it appears that there is no other workable solution. Veronica has been my companion from early on, the BoS made me a Sister, there is no way I turn on them now. Is there anyway out of this? If it helps, I killed House and the Legion would like to hang me upside down by my toes and throw spears at my face but I haven't killed Ceasar as yet.

complete all NCR sidequests and then, slaughter them, the best option for the mojave is to not have anybody rule it, no NCR, no legion, no house, just yes man.

Go talk to Yes Man. He's in the Tops. I don't see any other way to finish the main quest without Wild Carding.

Depdns on whether or not you

Spoiler

You changed the elder in charge. If McNamara is still elder its possible to negotiate a truce between the NCR and BoS. However if you went in favor of putting Hardin in charge there is no possible way for you to negotiate a truce between the NCR and BoS. Therefore in this situation the only way to advance the story line (at least through the NCR main quest line) you have to blow up the BoS bunker. If you absolutely refuse to blow up their bunker then you have to go through a different main quest story line either House, Legion, or Yes Man. But considering you already killed Mr. House and the Legion hates your guts you are going to have to go to Yes Man if you absolutely refuse to blow up the BoS bunker and if you put Hardin in charge as the Elder.

Well lucky for BoS I didn't kill Yes Man. Off to the Tops I go!

Thank you

There should be an option to sic Fisto on the NCR officer who issued this order.

If you're going NCR, then just ignore little miss bossy-boots. You can bring them in on the NCR's side and have a dedicated ending slide for this option. Little miss Bossy-Boots won't like it, but the quest gets marked as complete. Complete the first quest and do not change elders, and then complete their 2nd quest. After this the ally with NCR option will be a dialogue option (assuming you've got the relevent quest from the NCR).

However, working with House and Ceasar you will need to kill them, its unavoidable there.

Actually, there wasn't. He asked me to follow him to Lucky 38, couple other lines of dialog, and now I am completely without any quests and perhaps hope. Just for exercise I could go kill all the remaining legion but I suspsect that won't do me much good at this point as far as taking this game to an end. :cryvaultboy:

Side with Yes-man instead. It won't make you an enemy of the NCR so you will still be able to do all their side quests.

if you have completed all the BoS quests and are idolized AND you didn't replace the elder with Hardin, there is a dialog with the elder where he offers an alliance with the NCR.

Although, I have not experienced this yet, there is a bug that if you open both quests from the Elder and the Paladin then they are stuck in this eternal wait status so beware of that.

Even with my high speech she is stubborn about my eliminating them and won't consider alternatives. Oh well, I'll start a new game I guess. Thanks

This is garbage. I've spent the past 50 game hours working towards the NCR ending. I ended up helping Hardin assume power very early on in the game in the hopes that would help Veronica's quest have a good ending.

Apparently that choice completely shut down the NCR ending for me, despite there being no indication that would be the case.

I'm generally a big Bethesda fan. I have purchased multiple copies of this company's main games from Morrowind up to Fallout 3 so I could play them on both consoles and PC. New Vegas was the first game I have ever pre-ordered in more than a decade of gaming. I've been looking forward to it for a long time.

At this point, I give up on New Vegas. With the dozens of nasty bugs I've had, the corrupted save files, and recurrent years-old problems with the Gamebryo engine that still haven't been addressed, it was already a frustrating experience. Now at the end of what's supposedly an open-world, choice-friendly RPG, I'm forced down this idiotic path without leeway, or I have to restart with a new character.

It's hard for me to express how extremely disappointed I am by the game. Some of the design choices taken here are just unbelievably poor.

What do you mean it shut down the ending? You can't continue the NCR quests at all?

I can complete the game, but only by killing the Brotherhood of Steel and getting rid of Veronica, neither of which I'm willing to do. Sorry, I thought that would be clear from the OP's comments, but I probably should have spelled it out a bit more.

Hold on dude!

If you didn’t replace the elder (whatever his name is) then you CAN get the BoS and the NCR to cooperate

Yes , he does.
Hardin and McNamara offer you different quests after "Still in the Dark" is settled. Either one, you need to wait 3-5 game days. If you go back to them before that, either would say something to the fact that he's busy with the preparations for the lifting of the lockdown.

So you're complaining about the game having consequences for your actions?

I'm 'complaining' that the consequences were not laid out sufficiently (and thus did not flow naturally from my choices), and that my actions are subsequently limited to set of disagreeable choices. I find the notion of either alienating or killing off allies repugnant. I think it also makes little sense, within the game, that some temporary pact to fend off the Legion threat cannot be orchestrated, considering that can be achieved in several other instances.

As far as I'm aware, Wild Card is never blocked off from you, and it does not require you to kill Brotherhood of Steel.

Hardin is simply unwilling to work with the NCR. And the NCR don't like the Brotherhood at all. They're only a short time away from having their own war, y'know. Heck, in the instances where you do get an NCR and BoS alliance, the NCR are still unhappy about it.
