Kill Times... question to those who played demo..

Post » Tue Dec 23, 2008 7:03 pm

Hey,

Was just wondering if Crysis 2 retains the same approximate kill times that it had in the demo?

I thought the relative health/damage ratio was fairly spot on in the demo (excluding a somewhat dodgy maximum armour mode)

Cheers...

They are not the same. WITH armor mode on, you will drop like a fly in around 3-5 bullets sadly. The kill times feel very much like call of duty, which is very disappointing. I feel like Crytek needs to focus more on the shield/maximum armor side of on the nanosuit. The maximum armor mode is not nearly as effective as it was in the demo and is now kind of useless.

I feel like the armor mode is just right. If it were any stronger, it would be a Halo overshield, which would not be any good IMO. You do have to play tactical and manage your suit well, but I like the mix. I've gotten pretty fast moving between suit modes as the situation dictates. The demo was the reason I had slept on this game. It felt to Halo-esque to me, but I'm glad I found out that the release is not.

That's really quite sad to hear.

I'm afraid I am at the other end of the spectrum to you and feel that COD gameplay is rather weak and uninteresting compared to Halo gameplay.

I thought the demo had it nearly perfect and if anything would have liked armour mode to be marginally more effective.

It will be a HUGE disappointment for me to find that they have reduced what I thought looked to be a really promising and, most importantly, deep multiplayer experience to mimic the uninteresting and shallow player to player encounters of the 'point, shoot, move' variety that defines COD gunfights.

Crytek! What's going on!? I really thought you had the whole philosophy nailed :(
