So, I killed Caesar....

Post » Mon Nov 15, 2010 7:01 pm

maybe at a wrong time. I just activated the robot army, and I'm trying to help NCR so I killed caesar (reverse pick-pocket dynamite), escaped the fort and am now in new vegas. what i wanna know is: is this game breaking? is this kosher? or will everything just be like i didnt kill him, since i dont intend on helping him anyways?

No, it's not game-breaking at all, the odd npc and Mr Vegas will mention his death but otherwise everything carries on like it otherwise would.

so does that mean you are never required to kill caesar? but you can if you want?

BTW: every time i talk to boone his dialogue suggests we are going to snipe caesar soon. ???

Because I had completed almost all the other history point triggers for Boone, him and I had to kill Caesar, together(as in no having him wait in my hotel room)on hardcoe mode. It was a satisfying bloodbath(thank you LMG and AP rounds) but it had no impact on the main quest for Mr House. I did appreciate all the npc comments about Caesar's demise.

I never did anything with Boone in regards to his history except what was available at the time of recruiting him though

That's right. In my NCR playthrough I never even went to the Fort.

I think Boone's just in his antsy, end-game phase. The big final battle's close.

that was before i even started any faction quests except the one to go to the fort and use the chip to activate the army.

oh and I just killed Mr. House :P. is anything gonna happen? nobody seems to care. I disabled him, then felt a little bad about him in his state being tortured like that so I just killed him, but still lost karma for the disable thing instead of euthanizing at first. It seemed overly easy to kill him, his securitrons must be glitched or something because they barely hit me, and they barely shoot, and they just group up so I can shoot them. I didn't really get any sense of achievement from that.

Ceasar's gonna die either way.

If not from his tumor, then from the player.

The only way he'll be alive by the battle of hoover dam is if the player saves him through medical skill or an Auto-Doc.

Agree with everybody. It's so satisfying, just go for it. Boone will love you for it. It doesn't seem to affect gameplay except Legion goon squads will constantly show up to try and kill you, but that's OK. More Legion ears to collect!

An NCR medic/officer/somethingorother - sorry, can't remember where but it overtlooks the dam - pays for the ears. It's his attempt to "raise troop morale".

I have noticed this is an advantage FONV has over FO3. Both have great replayability. However, NV has so many more ways to go. I'm only on my second play through and it is so much different from the first. I killed Caesar the first time. If I run into him not sure what I'll do yet. Pending my mood at the time he may live or die.

Congrats...my character doesn't like slavers with a passion.

Is this scenario possible?

Take Boone to the Fort and deal with the Legionaries who are there.
Have Boone wait outside Caesar's tent while I go in and draw them outside.
Caesar comes running out too and Boone gets to kill Caesar.

Doable? Possible?

It's possible but hard to accomplish because of how strong the Praetorians are. Their Ballistic Fists can easily tear characters apart and they fight in groups.

Thanks, Devi. Then I can count on Boone to take the shot if I can get Caesar out the door. The next planning will be to lessen the number of guards before they exit the tent. At the moment, I have the mark of Caesar and can enter the tent but I can't have Boone outside. I'm thinking about trying to lay some C4 and then heading back to Cottonwood Cove and beyond to get Boone. Then return with him, clear out the camp and maybe set off the C4. That might do in Caesar too but we'll see. I'm trying to give the situation to Boone so he can give payback to Caesar. Still thinking about it all. :)

Caesar and his bodyguards don't exit the tent even if you plan to assault The Fort with Boone. I just had Boone wait outside Caesar's tent while I set up c4 and fragmines. Then I entered the tent to lure everyone outside. The only problem with using C4 is that you might unintentionally kill Caesar as he will undoubtedly be surrounded by his guards when charging outside. So long as you can kill the Praetorians that will mob Boone, I think it's possible to have Boone finish Caesar off.

quick question about the C4 thing:

if you lay down C4 somewhere, and exit the cell (say, I set it at the Fort and went to Camp Forlorn Hope) and pressed the detonator, would they still die? I mean would they be ok or would your C4 go off and kill them?

I can't say positively but it seems to me that you'd need to be in proximity to detonate. That would seem more real.

I'm wondering if leaving the Fort and going to Cottonwood Cove would mean that they'd find the C4 I drop and remove it before I return with Boone. It would depend on what's written into the script I guess. We'll have to test these things and tell each other; maybe someone out there has already tested them and can tell us?

I'm going to try a few different scenarios to see if I can get the result I'm looking for.

I don't think so, I tried it at a Ranger outpost and when I came back I didn't find my c4 or any bodies. So I'm not sure if it worked or not.

I would try it if I had it on PC (I will in a few days, Channukah biznitches!). but on PS3 I can never find any C4, though I did once find a detonator.

i dont think so, in fact i killed caesar BEFORE i even get the chip to mr. house. i took a trip to caesar and idiotically caesar kept the platinum chip so i couldn't return it to mr. house. so i decided to shoot him in the head and take whats rightfully mine :woot:

so i dont think your game is broke... yet.

Killing Caesar is part of my traditional itinerary, now.

I've found it's best to wait until you are a respectable level, then just kill everyone in the bunker (after activating/destroying the robots) before they ask you to surrender your gear. Then make your way through camp to Caesar's tent. Lots of loot and a satisfying battle.

I haven't tried the explosives option yet... Hoping the uberpatch will sharpen the skill before I invest points in it.

I was fascinated to learn that you can kill the guys who ask to take back your gear, then wear their outfits to leave that bunker fully armed and without anybody attacking you. The ol' switcheroo!
