KillerGymSox's Fan Art Thread

It's not immaturity, because it simply does look like it and instinctively, that is what a human will first think of because that is how we perceive the world with our eyes and brains, looking for something familiar. It also how we learn to walk properly, legs aside.

And I am certainly not being immature in saying that, to me, who is also artistic, he does look constipated. And it definitely isn't being rude, either! Nor offensive. And just because he may look it doesn't mean they're being immature, or that your work is inferior. It is stunning, really.

You can call it a different mindset, understanding how the development of art progresses, but it is putting a fancy label on something.

I am not going to tell you to be mindful of anything, that is how you wanted to draw it. And regardless of what he looks like, I do have high hopes that the completed work will be visually stunning.

If I was going to criticize anything, it would be to not take the words of people, here or otherwise, to heart. I do not think they were being rude or immature. And keep posting the steps you go through! For me, at least, it gives a deeper appreciation for the final product.

P.S. to all - I am mostly asleep typing this, so if I didn't make sense or rambled, I apologize.

I think you are perceiving me to be more "upset" than I really am. I honestly don't care all that much, I just don't want 50 messages about how his pose looks. That is all. People can think what they want about it, I honestly don't take it to heart. I also appreciate your attempt to make it better but it wasn't necessary. Artists have to listen to critiques all the time, I just don't want spam. :)

Alright.. Here is an update of the argonian.. I did a few changes to the pose. Gonna add a fire pit with a roasting rat on a stick and some bushes surrounding him. I will be working on the colors even more (not even close to being finished). I just wanted to post this update so you guys can get the poop jokes out of your mind :). This will be the last update until it is completely finished. I don't want to over-post and flood my art thread up. Also taking the size of his tail down due to input given earlier.

Looking good. I was thinking, you've changed it now anyway so doesn't really matter, but i just thought that if he was crouched in the rafters or somewhere else, it may have looked more appropriate if he was down a bit more on his haunches. Perhaps with one leg slightly more down to break up the symmetry, but then I don't know how Argonians should crouch really with those legs of theirs.

But anyway, as I said, doesn't matter now. Going well.

hmm you should have him leaning on a rock or a barrel that would set the image off nicely

scrapped the other argonian picture. The pose was just too flat and boring. No dynamics. The new one I am working on is a lot better so far.

Sorry, I have hand injuries so I must take more breaks than the normal artist might. I haven't worked on it in like 2 days but I did a lot previous to this break of mine. I will try to finish it soon though.

I do like that one quite a bit. From the pose, he looks like he is about to get into some sort of martial arts-dagger fight. He also does not seem to be enjoying the cold too much.

Additionally, your landscape work is fantastic. You do a great job of adding depth to it.

Dude, you do good [censored]in work. It took me a second to see that he's licking his dagger (had to magnify it) but great work, man.

Wow... Amazing work, truly. I love that you didn't go the typical route and draw anime/manga. Your style matches perfectly with the content.

Thanks, I was trying to give the Argonian some love since we have no screen shots of it yet. I wanted to give him that animalistic yet humanoid feel. I appreciate the kind words.

BTW should he be licking his daggers in this cold weather? Might get his tongue stuck on the blade :)

Alright.. Here is an update of the argonian..
(...)

First of all, I would like to say, that I think this thread is really great and the artwork shown by you is even greater ! I like it very much.

But I'm wondering, why you don't add your updates, additional pics, etc. to your first post ? This way every one, who views your thread, would immediately get the whole "picture" of your work and your skills. (Just a thought, since this is how I would do it. ;) )

Also, I must admit, that I'm a little disappointed, that you scrapped the other argonian picture. Why did you do this ? Only because of the pose ? Well, I liked it despite of the pose (, which didn't look that awkward to me anyway). I especially liked the "real" argonian- / reptile-like feel to it - especially the legs and feet, which you've drawn just in the way, I would like to see them in Skyrim, too.
But okay, it's your decision, of course and this:
Looks great  Just one, on the argonian's pic his tail is too...large...I'm not sure but imo it should be more slim. Other than looks good :)

... I would second, too (and it also applies to a lesser degree to your second argonian pic, imo).

Speaking of your second argonian pic (which I do like, too):

Why is he balancing a dagger between his two fingers in his left hand ? ... And what's this big black thing (with the birds) in the background ? (Looks like a tower or a monolith or something to me.)

But this:
http://th3angrygam3r.deviantart.com/art/In-the-Eye-of-a-Dragon-Speed-P-207757031
Is really, really astonishing, imo ! :tops: - Not only because you said, you've drawn it in 20 minutes (which is almost unbelievable for an art-unskilled person like me), but especially because it's got that real animal-like expression, just like an extreme closeup of a living beast (reminded me to some extend of an ad I saw, regarding a dino-game from the great designer Sid Meier - but I sadly can't remember its actual name, though). Kind of scary, but at the same time really impressive and fascinating. B)
Only one thing I would change a little: I think it would look even more real, if you paint the reflection of the warrior which is seated in the dark area - the pupil - of the eye slighly a little darker, than the reflection in the lighter areas, since I believe that this would be true for a reflection in reality, too, because of the lesser reflecting background (pupils are holes, normally - at least human ones, you know. ;) )

But altogether, I do like your work very much and will be looking for updates regularly.

Oh, and I almost forgot: I would prefer to watch and discuss your work in progress, too - gives me a deeper insight of what you intended / tried to express with your art. :)

@ last hope: I am adding all of the links to the first post but in order for people to know it has been updated i will also post the link at the end, also to help bring it back to the top of the forum which helps people find it. That being said I have another speed painting I did for laughs. Just trying to relax and have fun after doing that big one.. http://th3angrygam3r.deviantart.com/art/Skyrim-Dual-Wielding-Penguin-207836425 Don't mess with a dual wielding penguin.
