Killing annoying NPCs...

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:12 am

I imagine that many here find a lot of NPCs in Skyrim to be downright annoying and simply want to deal away with them. In my case, I can't stand the following NPCs:

- Dirge: If I hear his "even if you are one of us..." line again I'll go postal on the whole thief guild. Found it annoying that even after I became Guild Master he simply kept talking to me like that.

- Maven Black-Briar: Her snobbery and attitude got under my skin quite fast and even after she became Jarl (thanks to me no less) and after doing so many quests for her and favors she will still tell me "out of my way" or something like that.

- Priest of Talos in Whitrun: You know who he is, screaming like a fanatic in the marketplace.

I killed the priest of Talos with my first character (and will kill him again with my new character) but didn't kill Dirge or Maven. With my new character the first thing I'll do as soon as I set foot in Riften is kill Dirge and Maven. Skyrim will be a much better place without them. I think I'll just cast Frenzy on both and sit back, drink some wine and enjoy the show as everyone around them beats them to death.

Anyway, I am sure there are other NPCs I find annoying but those threes are the ones that stand out the most for me.

What about you? Any NPCs you find very annoying and who you have killed or plan to kill?

Every child in the game. With the exception of Babette. It's not that they are kids, but they are out right irritating...hmmm. I guess it is the fact that they are kids.

EDIT : Oh! I missed the killing part in the title...sorry. Still.

I disposed of the Whiterun nuisance yesterday. Crouched on the wall outside Jorvaskr, one-shotted him and dropped back. No bounty. Ah! Silence is golden. I let him live for several hundred hours with my first character, thinking he mattered for something. Nope! He's just insanely annoying.

I know, the son of the Jarl of Whiterun in particular is annoying with his "lick my father's boot" line. Babette is awesome, too bad she can't be a follower, would have been cool to have a kid vampire like her causing havoc in dungeons.

Oh, how could I forget about her...Delphine! Very annoying and the fact that she wants to kill Paarthurnax automatically puts her in the black list. Too bad she is essential and can't be killed.

IIRC Maven is essential and can't be killed. May be possible to change with console commands but I haven't tried. I found her easy enough to avoid, even when I joined the TG I think there was only one quest where I had to speak to her in person and then she showed up later at the end when I was made Guildmaster but I wasn't required to talk to her. Otherwise I just kept out of her way... I did the CW for the Imperials at the very end of the playthrough and never even returned to Riften after she became Jarl since I was about ready to retire that PC anyway. I do agree she is really a PITA though.

I did do a lot more Daedric quests with that character too and for Boethiah's sacrifice I really, REALLY wanted to find a way to make Rolff Stone-Fist killable and a potential follower. Tried some console commands but could never make it happen, don't know if I was doing it wrong or if it's just impossible. But he would've been my first choice to kill, especially since I was playing as a Dunmer.

There are some otherwise "nice" people that I often end up hating... for instance Adrienne outside Warmaiden's in Whiterun. If I end up making my primary residence there, I spend a lot of time around her when I'm working on my gear and there always comes a point at which I want to smack her right upside the head. Usually it's right around the 3 millionth time I have to hear her oh so unsubtle attempt at bragging about how she "advises" the Jarl through giving counsel to her father the steward. Whatever, lady, I'm not impressed.

I actually find Heimskr kind of hilarious but I can understand why he grates on some people.

Pretty much everybody who is a major player in the Thieves Guild, after I become Guildmaster. Even though I might get greeted occasionally as "boss" they mostly still talk down to me like I'm a nobody and want to give me lip about not taking some piddly job that they are apparently too busy to do themselves on account of all that mead in the Ragged Flagon ain't gonna drink itself, you know?

I usually don't go on a killing spree, but Nazeem, Heimskr and Dirge tends to suffer accidents :whistling:

If only the miles-long greetings would default to a "hmm?" or even "muth'sera?" after the fifth time they've been played.

Yeah that's something I noticed of the Thieves Guild too. After I became the Guildmaster, Brynjolf has too many important things to do to talk to me, Dirge tells me that he doesn't cares if I am best buddies with the Guildmaster, Vex who is always sitting and drinking/eating all day in the Flagon asks me if I will only run around all day instead of doing a job for her, etc. The only one I really liked and felt recognized by was Delvin:"always a pleasure boss, what can I do for you?". Also liked his link with the Dark Brotherhood quests. Even one of the merchants who set up chop in the Guild throws me a compliment "skilled, lethal, attractive..." or something like that. But Vex, Dirge, Brynjolf, Tonilla, Sapphire, are very much oblivious to the fact that i am Guildmaster.

Had to look him up actually, seems like he is the most hated NPC in the game. I remember him now but never crossed paths much with him so he didn't made an impression.

It seems his quest (and even his house) never made it into the game, so he just wanders around being annoying and lives in the inn. His wife isn't much better though it is funny to see that she doesn't seem to like him either. One time I may add her to the marriage faction and marry her just to rub it in his face.

The only ones that really annoyed me were the Redguards that hang out at the Whiterun gate if you side with Saadia. Seems they never go away, so I just opened the console and 'disabled' them.

I wouldn't mind the annoying NPCs so much if Beth had given us the ability to respond (especially with something sarcastic). I sided with the Graymane's in Whiterun so now I have this NPC saying he'd like to bash my face in. "Yeah dude - I just took out a hornet's nest of Draugr Deathlords in Forelhost by myself. I'll tell you what, I'll give you the first swing!"

I don't mind the kids in Solitude and Roriskstead.

Starlifter, you are so right. Would it be possible to create a "trash talk" mod?

Top 3 comebacks I'd love to make:

1. Farengar Secret-Fire: "I should join the College at Winterhold, you say? Did that a while ago. In fact I'm archmage. How much does the jarl pay you for your expertise?"

2. Lydia: "No, I'm not lost. This is my house."

3. To various boss mobs in quests, when they taunt: "Thanks for all the soul gems fills your followers gave me. I got a grand soul gem right here with your name on it."

Almost every kid in skyrim is an annoying [censored], some are alright, but most are there to annoy you, it's kinda like little lamplight in fallout 3, the attitude of those kids just made me want to strangle then...

That just may be enough inspiration to make a mod for that. If it hasn't already been made...AND if I even have the mental ability to do that.

Which reminds me, I would love to kill Three Dog, um...I mean Nazir, BUT he is essential. I thought I left his ass to rot in the wastes of DC. And I'll be damned if he didn't show up in Skyrim! Oh well, I may mod that too. That one will be easy. One check in the CK and no more Tri Pup. MOOHOOHOOHAHAHAAAA!!

If i killed every annoying NPC Skyrim would be deserted :hehe: Oh, wait. Everyone is essential :whistling:

But seriously, i've killed no one for being annoying. No, not even Nazeem "Could District Very Often" :lmao:

Oh yeah, I'm totally with you on this. The Battle-Born clan has one less member thanks to that very comment one day when I wasn't in the mood for it....

Interesting... I sided with the Redguards, and... you know the cave they are in, where you have to fight your way through the generic bandits and then come to the room full of the Redguards and the leader tells you their side of the story? Well, okay, I sided with them and they supposedly took Saadia back to Hammerfell. But a couple days later I took the quest to find Amren's father's sword, which was in the same cave where I found the Redguard's leader and all his buddies. So I went back there very happy knowing that it would be empty, which it was, mostly... no bandits to be found, but when I got to the final chamber all the Redguards were still there in the exact same positions and poses they were in when I first found them and we had our little chat about Saadia. They weren't hostile so I just relooted the chest where the sword was and left. But I guess there's something with that whole quest that causes a bunch of the Redguard NPCs to "stay on station" even when you've finished it. Since the cave location is obviously one that can be given on other quests, it surely wasn't intentional to have them hanging out there forever, serving absolutely no purpose.

I suppose I could've attacked them the second time around just to see what happened, but it was just me and Lydia and a boatload of them and they weren't giving me any aggro so... I took a pass.

I've taken to not killing annoying NPCs... at least, not in any way that I could be blamed for. Flicking them like tiddlywinks, however...

I've seen this myself on another character. I have read that they all leave the next time the cave resets.

Most of the 'miniature humans', Nazeem, Belethor, every Black-Briar except Ingun, Louis Letrush, SIddgeir, Dirge, Erikur, Olfrid Battle-Born, and a few others that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

I wish Cicero could be killed. Can't believe no one else has mentioned him.
