Killing Birds

Post » Mon Apr 05, 2010 10:23 pm

I hope this doesn't stray too much from the topic but I wanted to add that I would love to have a skinning animation sorta like they did in Red Dead Redemption (wasn't a huge fan of the game after I beat single player but I digress) for the animals you kill. I think that adding in the immersion of actual hunting and gathering would be epic. Not just looting the pelt off the bear or whatever you killed but actually obtaining it like a skilled hunter.

Part of hunting in Skyrim, yes please. I want all forms of hunting, hunting fish, birds and land creatures. It should also be profitable.

I voted yes. I just think it would be a cool effect if you did a powerful Dragon Shout (let's say FUS ROH DAH) in a forest, and then you saw some dead birds topple out of some of the trees.

I'm doubt I'm going to notice if killing birds isn't in the game though. I'm just ecstatic that I can actually see birds (and fish, mostly fish) in the game.

If you can't kill birds, where do you get the feathers from when crafting arrows?

Yes, because there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to (if they're within shooting range).

It'd be awesome to use the force push dragon shout as a flock flies above, and they all just drop from the sky.

Wow, this is a landmark moment guys. We're desperate enough that we've begun discussing whether we should be able to shoot birds.

op: HELL YES WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO KILL BIRDS!

I personally wouldn't kill them, but I don't see why it shouldn't be in the game. Though there shouldn't be any Dwemer competitions where you have to sniper them.

You already have angry dragons on your hands, so I am not sure if it would make sense to also wish to start a conflict with potentially angy birds. Since the birds probably have no other means to defend themselves, they might also try to learn some dragon shouts from their flying pals, the dragons, which might then lead to a rather nasty continuous bombardment from the sky,

On the other hand, if you wish to role play a green piggie, sorry, orc, I could just see, where a conflict with angry birds could fit in. Just be sure to put your helmet on tight then.

Voted yes. Why? For same reason why deers are killable.

And imagine it in a quest... Some bandit/ranger/something else big shot will discuss with you only prove your self worthy and pass the challenge of killing a bird with bow and i.e. only 10 arrows. So you stand in a place and wait for a birds to fly by.

Deffinately. There could be rare birds like a phoenix on top of a mountain and its feathers could make some of the rarest alchemical ingredients that increase health or some such.

Do you want to kill birds? Yes.
Why? Now here it should say something about role playing, immersion, a believable world, or freedom of choice, but the only real reason I want to kill them is Turok 2 : Seeds of Evil nostalgia. It took ages to hit one.
