Killshot Perk Glitch

Post » Tue Jan 12, 2016 5:12 pm

I'm sure many know, but I could not find a thread on this already. When I reached max affinity with McCready, I received his Killshot perk which is supposed to grant an extra 20% chance to land a head shot in VATS. However, no matter if they are barely visible, or 200 yards away, I now always have a 95% chance to land a head shot. To some this may be fine, but to me this is quite game breaking. I have seen that a mod was made on PC to fix this glitch, with no such options on PS4, I hope this can be fixed sooner rather than later, it is a quite obvious glitch, and seems to affect many. I have tried reloading to a save 6 hours prior, still ended up with the same glitch, deleting all my game data and re-installing it, and disconnected from the internet to no avail. Hope this can get fixed. Thanks!

I've had this bug too! I think it's pretty universal. ...I mean granted I'll take it! lol But it definitely breaks the game, and takes away the point of the sniper perk. Don't suppose you have any idea when the next patch is coming, do you?

No, I've looked all over for information and it seems like a very easy thing to fix. Considering modders with an editors tool kit found the coding for the perk on PC, and saw the value was set to 2000% instead of 20%. All that needs to be done is delete two of those 0's. No word however, and everyday it seems to be ruining the game more and more for me. I hope it's very soon, and if they don't fix it in the next patch, I'll be very discouraged, such a simple fix...

It is a universal bug, it says 20% when it is really 2000% that desimal placement is the problem.

Sorry Back beat me to it.

I personally have no problem with this glitch haha. I feel like freaking Chris Kyle picked all these enemies off with constant headshots.

ya I think exploits should not be high priority, I hope they fix other quest related bugs that don't let you finish the game before they start working on this.

Are you kidding me? I'm level 48 and this has completely ruined the game for me, I hate exploits and glitches when my build is centered on stealth and accuracy! This glitch would take 5 seconds to fix. Seriously, just two 0's gotta go, I've hit a number of bugs and side quests I can't complete, I understand a lot of this frustration. But this is too simple not to fix, especially when it's irreversible. When one of the perks they intended for you to get by working with a specific companion and completing both his quests is glitched to this extent, it shows very poor "game testing" on their part, which I no longer believe they did. Exploits like these are different when you install them as mods, or choose specifically to get them, when it isn't intended it's seriously hindering my experience, and for many others. It's just a ridiculously large and simple glitch that should've never, ever been included in the final product. It's a damn joke! It means none of the testers even bothered testing out MacCready or anything to do with his perk, very poorly done.

YES!!!!!! You would think that would be their first priority. Nothing pisses me off more than getting really into a game then not being able to finish the game because of a main-quest related bug (Underground Undercover).

I feel deeply sorry for people who have these glitches, I am sorry but I do not know how you fix the one you have.

it is not as pressing as glitches that stop you from finishing the main quest or that stop you from being able to leave vault 111 all together, it is known and it will be worked on, don't worry I just hope that this minor exploit that can be avoided by not using it or only VATSing headshots from a short distance does not take higher priority if it is as time consuming to fix.

I doubt it is, my point is that it's way too simple not to fix. Actually any glitch modders have fixed on PC is. All they need to do is implement those fixes in their files and send it out in a patch. Those main quest bugs on console with no fixes can take a while to figure out, but the rest could be implemented by one member of their staff... In a day. My point, is that it's ludicrous that 2 months after release, these stupid bugs still exist.

so you are saying they should steal someone else's work without paying them for it and without their express written consent? Great idea, Bethesda would totally not get sued for copyright infringement.

What? Lol, there is no copyrights to game fixing mods! The ones that add stuff to the game sure, but when its about deleting an error in their own code, they aren't stealing anything! In fact the game and editors tool kit for their games gives them rights over any mods people make if they feel like it. However, if they end up official using, and selling one of those mods, the creator will get paid for it. Fixing a glitch from an error in the source code is not stealing anything, it's taking into account what other players have found, and use it to fix this stuff. Lmao, you can't copyright something you add to a game without the devs approval, especially if you've got no hand in the production of said game. Nonsense!

Because things on PC aren't exactly the same on consoles! What I'm saying is these modders have found the problem, don't copy their work, use their findings to fix it on consoles since we can't go get these mods. These modders didn't actually mod anything, they either added/ deleted, or changed some of the source coding. They've spent hours to identify the source of these bugs, it would be a shame for Bethesda to let the efforts of such dedicated players go to waste. These are simple fixes, and if I could afford a high-end PC, I'd probably never get one of their games on a console again, nowhere near decent customer service.
