I. Intro

So you're a super-secret ninja, prowling through the shadows. You spot your prey, silently draw your bow and let fly... bam, he's dead. He falls down. You sit in the shadows, yawn, and pick a booger.

This is too often the case for you ranged players out there. If there's one thing that Fallout teaches us, it's that ranged combat can (and should) be fun.

This mod seeks to improve the *visual* component of ranged combat. This is a fun mod, and may not be of much use gamewise and, as a free spell that has several beneficial effects, may prove too powerful for you. Just have fun with it.

II. Installation/Configuration

Unzip all contents into your \Data folder.

This mod comes with 2 versions; Toggle and Chance.

  • Use the Toggle esp to use the version that adds a spell to your inventory, or uses a hotkey.
  • Use the Chance esp to use the version that rolls a random number for ALL arrow fires.

There is also an INI file included with the mod. Open the file to read the descriptions of the customizable settings.

III. Usage

The Toggle version will add the "Killtastic!" spell upon game load. When you cast this spell, you have 15 seconds to fire an arrow. If you do, you will go into Camera Mode and follow the path of your arrow.

If you acquire a target before firing the arrow, your target will be knocked out when struck, increasing the joy of observing your shot. Targets can only be acquired by placing your crosshair over them, which may make longer shots difficult when trying to hit a target.

When your arrow strikes an actor or surface, you will enter Observe Mode, which will hold you in a fixed position for several seconds and enable the mouse allowing you to observe your destruction.

IV. Disclaimer/Known Issues

  • There appears to be incompatibilities with Deadly Reflexes and (probably) Unecessary Violence.
  • The 'camera mode' as described above is acheived by moving the player while in 1st person. As such, strange things may occur.
  • If your target is not killed by your shot, your target will not alarm guards of your actions or enter combat with you. I may update the mod to force combat in these situations.

New version out which allows the player to choose the spell version (original version) or a chance-based system that is customizable.

I probably would not use this myself (only because I do not like taxing my CPU unless it adds function to the game.) But it is VERY cool none the less.

I am sure there will be many players that will love this mod.

And I can tell it must have taken some trial and error to get this to work.

Good job!

Well, the Spell version wouldn't add any stress to your CPU until you cast it

PM a moderator, They can add what you want.

I think this mod rocks! It adds a lot of movie like quality to a long range kill shot attempt.
Kinda reminds me of a few camera techniques used in LOTR during battle scenes.

This looks really sweet. I'm grabbing this - the ability to use it as a spell is really nice. Thanks for your work!

Man this mod makes long distance bow shots so amazing!!! I did find one little bug. It seems to trigger different weather conditions after the FOV camera ends. I'm using All Natural 0.98. Not complaining by any means, but it would be great for this to be compatible down the road. Perhaps if it gains enough popularity it can be looked at. Thanks again!

Thanks for all the encouragement!

When I get out of work at 7:30pm Sat I hope to fix the problem in which victims do not report crimes.

I've uploaded v1.2 as a minor update while I try to work out some kinks. It optimizes a script in the chance .esp, and adds a rather entertaining option to increase the force of the knockback when an arrow strikes an actor. Enjoy ;)

Awesome job. I love the spell ESP. Is there any way to have the effect triggered via a button press without a casting animation? That'd make it perfect, especially since you already added the knockback.

This is a good idea... I'm working on an INI right now, so that could easily be incorporated into the spell version (perhaps I'll rename it "toggle version")

This is fantastic.

Is it by any chance possible to make it trigger on Deadly Reflex's critical hits? I know that might seem like a little much, or perhaps it's easy depending on the scripts in DR.

But it would make this absolutely must have!

Just a crazy idea/suggestion, great work, love both your mods =)

Hrmm.. I honestly don't even use DR. Are you referring to your basic sneak attack? Or is a "DR critical hit" something different entirely? It would certainly be something to consider, it shouldn't be too difficult either.

BTW, probably will release 1.3 with a customizable INI later tonight.. and possibly include the hotkey toggle as suggested above.

The DR special effects trigger on a chance to "critical hit". By default 30%. The arrow one is where it pierces the person and he starts shooting out blood and just keels over, it's very cool! This would look amazing if you got to see that every time it triggered, because you rarely get to see the awesome effect if your keeping distance. I'm sure theres a simple check in a script every time someone fires an arrow, atleast thats how I imagine it would be done :hehe: But would be insanely awesome!

However, I do plan to use the toggle for Sneak Attacks, simply because I use Duke Patrick's Combat Archery + StealthOverhaul, which usually means with instakill sneak attacks with high enough Sneak and Marksman.

On a completely unrelated and still relevant note, for people using Oblivion XP leveling, the extra gold in chests from The Thief birthsign from APB cause the player to earn the standard Stealing xp multiplied by the amount of gold. So it can often be a few hundred xp :ooo: It seems to think each piece of a gold is a seperate theft. Not a huge deal, I don't mind too much, just thought I'd mention it.
