kinect In skyrim

Post » Mon Nov 29, 2010 12:32 pm

i thought it would be a good idea guys i don't understand why so many people are jumping on the idea. and is hockey any less realistic than havin to farm or cut wood??

It isn't a good idea, as the last post on the first page said; Skyrim is cross platform and so therefore catering to Kinect is a waste of time and effort.

Hockey is unrealistic when it doesn't exist in Tamriel; your arguement for that has as much basis as: "Oh lets add tanks and machine guns! They exist in real life so it's realistic to stick them in a fantasy RPG"

Again..

Maybe because hockey is a modern sport? Or that farming and woodcutting existed since humans became civilized? And that TES is set on a Dark Age-esque setting or that it has nothing to do with real life stuff.

We are jumping on it, because you don't see to have thought twice before making this thread, before making any thread suggesting an idea think what are the possibilities of it working and happening, what are the good and the bad things about it, and most important how the community and players would react.

not around were i live, alot of people at school have kinects and love them!! it could draw alot more people in to the series.

..... the kinect is used to grab ppl that jus love new tech, and its not goin to change gaming (atleast not in this stage with it being so limited).

heres an idea try to think about wht the kinect is and what the ES games are.... do u really expect them to make u jog in place that long?

hockey has been around for thosands of years now too, hurling for exemple in ireland was in the bc times. i'm just saying some thing similar with ice skates could be interesting and i think kinect could be put to good use to not just for hockey in skyrim but also for the combat as well. noone has really brought up the kinect idea as much on these forums, not nearly as much as people posting about level scalling and maps.

No one has brought up Kinect because no one wants Kinect. This is, or supposed to be, a serious game and a serious RPG. No offense, but any game that uses Kinect isn't a serious game in my opinion... it's more of a "Fun" game, a "Casual" game.

playing the devil`s advocate for a moment,
the above cited poll is a sampling of the opinions of the members of this forum, a small fraction of bethesda`s potential customer base, whose opinions could be entirely different.

No one but new comers bring this idea on table because it's not a good one.

And whatever, Nirn isn't Earth. There is no hockey in Nirn. And do you have any idea of how much you use combat in-game? Or even, how many actions you can realize in the game and how it would be nearly impossible to make this work with a low-resolution infra-red camera full of glitches and delay? Or how would you walk in the games world using Kinect? Or manage menus and stats with the extremely low precision that this camera has?

You would swing you arms so much that you would sleep with myalgia and wake up the next day barely able to move your muscles.
You would break your house's furniture while swinging around like a monkey.
You would have to walk kilometers, and that would be impossible in the confined room space.

When I bought my Wii I was expecting immersion, I got frustration and rage. The same applies to Kinect, at first, it looks cool, then you get bored of it and realize how much money you wasted on it.

Fans wouldn't like, they would stop liking Bethesda. It doesn't work in a game with such complexity and attention to detail and small things. Don't ever ask any company that makes "serious" games to implement Kinect into their games. Can you imagine for instance how Assassin's Creed series would work on it?

Plus the game is not an exclusive, I won't even bother to explain why it wouldn't work for being a multiplatform game.

That's because it's a terrible idea. Do you expect to run several kilometres on the spot from one side of the map to the other? Plus as I've said the game will not just be on the 360

i dunno were Nin is but they copy earth enough, noone speaks there own langage, they all speak english and use weapons that humans have used for thousands of years, so hockey is certanly not a stretch imo. im not saying use kinect for walking but more so for the combat and activities the devs intagrate into the game, ive been waiting for bethesda to add hockey into a es game since daggerfall but the climate never favored it until now. and i think itd be fun to just hip check a nord :P

Yeah, because flailing about your house is such technological advancement.
No, If you want to run around, and make sword swinging gestures, go outside.

I remember playing outside...

Daggerfall? Seriously, if you are really have played Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion and is a fan of TES you would understand why Kinect would never work.

Nirn is a fictional world, it uses english as a language because it's a really difficult job to create a whole new language for a work of fiction! Any intelligent being eventually learns how to use tools during their evolution, swords and alike would appear in every alien culture in someway in the galaxy if there are any that is.

And explain then, how would you walk? Okay, you hack and slash with your arms but how do you move and interact with the world? Holding the controller in one hand pushing the anologic pad while swinging your arms back and forth?!

Making the poor and horrible low-res Kinect camera recognize a bunch of gestures to interact with the world and transmit this data to the game would not only take time, but not work because Kinect cannot recognize too many motions.

Yeah having to learn 1-3 new languages just for a game is [censored] unreal.
Nirn by the way is the planet where you supposedly "played" Daggerfall to Oblivion. Also, its not a REAL planet in our universe. Sorry to dissapoint you.

i just think it would open up for the with a whole new way to play. maybe make the kinect optional for users who want to use kinect or don't? and if they were to intagrate some form of ice hockey into it, thats opens up more loot options for new skates and sticks, maybe a puck here or there. i did play daggerfall on a emulater a while ago but i always though it would be good for if they were to intagrate things to do in your down time away from killing and looting.

This is not something that can be implemented in a matter of months anyway, even if it was a viable idea.
