King Leonidas

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:51 pm

So I'm going to make a Nord character based of king Leonidas from the movie "300". And I was hoping you guys would agree/disagree to what i need in equipment and skills.

1: I need to use a one-handed sword. Right or wrong?

2: I need to use a shield. Right or wrong?

3: I need to use light armor, preferably something that is not covering the whole body. Right or wrong?

4: I need to level up my skills and use perks in one-handed and block. Right or wrong?

Bonus question: Do any of you know of any armor and/or weapons/shield that would work with my character?

I'm doing a Leonidas character too, an Imperial, big black beard and all.

1 : Either use a sword or download a mod (if you're playing on PC) that let's you use spears A.K.A Tyranis Mod.
2 : Yep, I find that shields are very interesting in close-combat, really good, dual-wielding is somewhat boring.
3 : Not really, I suggest heavy armor, tank type. Better for forgiving having missed some shield blocks.
4 : Yep. Right.

Bonus : Well, if Leggings and Cuirass were separate, I would have told you to wear steel leggings without cuirass, buy you can't :(

HMMM getting the armor to look like leonides is tricky cuz of the greaves and curaiss possible leather i guess or just nothing .. I get why you want light armor but you gotta make your guy super buff in the caracter creation.. This might not be a good game to make that character though.. no shields as big as that and no spears or capes or separate greaves..unless you play on computer your good

I would cap the Kick and Yell perk first :P

But seriously, I'm thinking yeah little or no armor, sword and board. (And if you wield 'em, put points in 'em I guess)

The Horned Scale Armor (I think is the name), or the Forsworn Armor and the Ebony Sword would probably look cool.

1. Use a one-handed sword

2. Use a shield (Banded Iron should work well, it's the closest thing to a big, round Hoplite shield)

3. You should use heavy armor, as that's what elite Greek Hoplites (the type of soldiers Leonidas commanded) wore: Bronze cuirasses. If you're only interested in being a Gerard Butler groupie, you should wear NO ARMOR and walk around in your guy's loin cloth, except for an Imperial officer's helmet.

4. One handed and block are probably about the only solid skills you could use.

And you need to use a Spear as your weapon. Oh, wait, nevermind :)

Yes, one handed sword, block, light armor (maybe just helmet, guantlets, boots, and something for the armor slot that shows off your character's muscles!).

Forums do this... A guy asks "How do I do this?" and someone answers. "You don't, you do this."

Yes, but Leonidas seems to use light armor. Or maybe my memory is somewhat dull, lol.

1: I need to use a one-handed sword. Right or wrong? yes since there is no spears

2: I need to use a shield. Right or wrong? Yes and no, when aggitated you can always throw your sheild at an enemy ;] jk

3: I need to use light armor, preferably something that is not covering the whole body. Right or wrong? probably a mixture of steel or iron with leather?

4: I need to level up my skills and use perks in one-handed and block. Right or wrong? right

Bonus question: Do any of you know of any armor and/or weapons/shield that would work with my character? An imperial heavy sheild seems to look the best.

There is a spartan looking legion helmet i believe west of riften up a mountain and near a dwarven dungeon. it will be laying beside a Talos statue.

Well if he wants to go with Light armor he should go with light armor then lol, it's just my opinion after all, an opinion that he asked for. Anyways, if you want to go with light armor, go with forsworn/hide. It looks the best for a barbarian type character.

Helmet:Imperial Helmet(Spartan Variation)
Armor:Fur Armor (No Top Variation)/ Tsun's armor (if you have the pc version)
Leather Gauntlets
Sandals (Don't know if that how they are actually called)

As for weapons
Imperial Sword
Iron/Steel Shield

Character Focus-1H,Block,Light Armor, Heavy Armor

I know that the armor and weapons are among the weakest in game, but they somewhat resemble the spartan attire (you can also try leveling smithing or enchating to make them more powerful). Also the build is a bit lousy, but if you really want to stick with the ancient greek warrior template you should use those as main skills. It would provide a greater challenge as well

Yeah sorry mate, didn't mean to dump on you in particular - I've just seen a lot of this lately, where someone asks how to realize his RP-idea and people answer what is more effective for pwning.

Go with what you like. So yea, if you're following the movie then light armor, sword, shield. I'm not sure if this game would be very friendly towards a melee type in light armor but that's ok.

If it's gimping you to the point of being too hard to enjoy just adjust the difficulty level or learn some crafting skills.

On my last character I was a melee type with light armor and one sword, so I think i should be fine

The movie 300 was pretty good for what it was, but much like another great movie, Inglourious Basterds it is a total rewrite of history.

If I were you I'd crack a book open and educate myself on how Spartans really looked.

Thank you for your "advice". I read books on a regular basic but this has nothing to do with how Spartans really look. Learn to read a post BEFORE replying to it. I'm trying to base my character on King Leonidas from the MOVIE "300", not how Spartans really look.

I don't think the movie was all that far off from the way they actually looked. For example did you look at the picture of his statue I posted in post 19.

I know the history was a bit off, but the armor wasn't particularly off.
