King of Worms

Post » Sat Sep 03, 2011 8:20 pm

Skyrim takes place two centuries after Oblivion, but of course that means little for Mannimarco -- The King of Worms and eternal badass. Well, at least he was in Daggerfall. He was, shall we say, flimsy in Oblivion (vanilla anyway). I laughed my ass off when I faced him at the end of the Mage Guild quest line. I expected so much more.

So my two part question is: a) Will he return in Skyrim? and, B) Will he be represented as someone of his stature should be -- which is to say, will he be much more foreboding and menacing this time around?

Thoughts.

That wasn't him. That was some wimpy High Elf who adopted the name Mannimarco to intimidate.

Sadly, I would say he is swimming at Sithis' feet so to speak.

So baring some sort of resurrection by another necromancer, I'd say the less badass one from Oblivion is it for the king of worms.

What was he supposed to live up to? Ten pixels without a voice?

I was under the impression he was, you know, eternal.

He is a lich after all. The first lich.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him again, they seem to have made lesser necromancers more robust this go round, so why not? We probly won't know for sure til the game is out though

One can only hope, but odds are Beth decided that Oblivion was the end of him. The demotion being more humiliating then the actual end.

He's been studying magic since the beginning of the second era, giving him over 1,000 years of experience. He was the first humanoid to transform into a lich. I think my level 5 Oblivion character killed "him" in like ten hits.

They could go the old Castlevania route and have the necromancer's gather to summon the KoW back into existence. Could work, actually.

Oblivion killed the Mannimarco hype for me. I don't think I will be able to see him as a formidable necromantic magister. so, perhaps he is better off dead and gone from the series. Let some knew horror take up the mantle as the most evil and sinister necromancer.

Bet if you walked into his new lair and got one-shotted by him, you'd suddenly change your opinion. :P hehe

I agree with some of the other posts as well. I think that fairy was an impostor, or just a goon pretending to be his boss while he was away.

Mannimarco says to his goon: "Hey! Watch over the place while I'm gone. I going out for White Castle. And don't let the CoC kill you or people will think I'm a wuss."

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mannimarco

Let's say anyone who wants to command the necromancers forces will be called "Mannimarco".

So there is a good chance that another Mannimarco will appear.

Also, to back up the claims many of us share about Manimarco is the UESP http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mannimarco itself. Read at least the last bullet-point in Backstory, the final 2 paragraphs of the article, and look at the bottom image. Doesn't 100% prove anything, except that he is full of surprises and in some way or another has cheated death before. I'll concede that perhaps an overstatement of his actual power could be among these many surprises, but the evidence is still very compelling in the opposite direction.

Edit: Lol, I've been ninja'd?

hahaha thats awesome.
but ya agreed. Oblivio Mannimarco was very underwhelming. I want it to go back to the days when he was an awesome super-lich (who wasnt just a randomly hostile undead creature waiting for someone to stumble across them in a random ruin losing all coolness of lich lore (though technically you still couldn't fight him)) that was surrounded by lich/vampire ancients who could kill OB mannimarco in a heartbeat.
