My kingdom for BSA's

Post » Sun Jul 10, 2011 4:18 pm

Marveling at the tidy efficient epicness that is My Oblivion install gilded with BSA's I wanted to enact the same philosophy with my Bounce into Morrowind, unfortunately the Powers that be the BSABrowser (which allows packing unpacking, etc etc) is not the most complicent of programs I've run into.

Problema 1. the program doesn't show the files I've loaded for "packing" in the main display, so I have no idea what is where, this includes "browsing" those BSA's nothing shows, the BSA's have size yes but this program doesnt display the content.

Problema 2. there are no options to pack multiple files for one ESP, and when I do pack single files..it packs that file into a BSA...so the textures of the Mod in question is BSA'd as well as the meshes, all seperate and equally worthless. I tried to work around that by, putting meshes/Textures etc etc into one folder and BSAing it, but no avail, it is not recognized by the ESP even though I named the BSA after the ESP.

Can someone please point out what I am doing wrong and kindly direct me to the path of enlightenment in this regard.

Please.

bsa browser works just fine for me with oblivion, for morrowind I use BSAUnpacker by Timeslip, just unpack the stuff somewhere of my choise, for some unknown reason that bsa browser doesn′t work as good with oblivion so I use that unpacker for mw,might be differences in versions,I dunno = I just don′t know.

I know that when I've used the browser, it would have files inside that the stupid gui would display for me, but they were there, as proved by an unpack >.> I've also noticed that when I pack files/folders into the BSA, I have to view the created BSA before it actually started packing...

As for problem 2. You have to create a folder (Data Files) to put the texture, mesh, icon folders in and pack that folder instead. That way you get all the files in 1 BSA.
I'll be following this because my experience with BSA browser is also not the greatest.

:ahhh: My apologies. I must have stopped mid-sentence when I was reading your second problem... Didn't catch that you'd already tried it.

No offence taken, I can see no downsides to this method, it allows me to edit re-arrange and track the assets of my installed mods, and fully remove that which I don't need, I prefer this vastly to the cluttered mess of what I remembered the last I played Morrowind.

side question, if I move the folders/files in Textures/Meshes of a particular mod to folders I made myself within Tex/Mesh, will the game still recognize them? I can forgo doing BSA's if I can atleast get some organization going..
