Klingon Academy Lives Again! Help Needed

Post » Wed May 13, 2009 12:17 pm

Hello there, DC here, It seems that Klingon Academy one of the bestest games that gamesas evey produced, is having a rebirth. KA plays very well on the faster CPU's and Video cards with Vista and Win 7. Quad core processors really workl good. The KA game and many of the exelent ship mods are still around. I cane to this site to see if gamesas can spare some of it's loyallist and oldest customers a little support. I and many of the members of Klingon Academy.com arn't asking for pro-bono help. We know that KA is nolonger supported by gamesas and Dev's don't work for free. Therefore, we may be willing to pay for some support.
However, I would like to add Kilingon Academy as a Topic on the Old Game Forum page. :ugeek:

We don't have access to all of the old code, from what I understand. Not sure what we can do, but if you want, send a proposal to here:

Thank's for the reply offering help. Do You still have a CD or the DVD for Klingon Academy? I will have to ask dexter if he has the code. I think KA was made Public but I'm not shure of the terms and conditions. However, KA still has fans. KA lives because the models (Ships and etc.) were crafted with Lightwave 5.? and many ships were player designs.

All KA needs is some tweaks to allow KA to function on Win7, Vista an Xp without crashing to the desktop at times. The Mp server is Winsock 2. Winsock something is now included in the newer Windows OS Xp, Vista and Win7. All i can find is Winsock ISP log updates for those OS's

The main problem I'm having at this time is. I can;t seem to connect over the internet to my DSL of CABLE systems. the DSL is Vista and the Cable is WIN 7. I have the ports open and the firewalls are down. When I try to connect using the gateway ip and port 6003 it won't connect. However. the game plays great as a LAN. At this time I think I may have a defective 1.2 patch for the original CD. When I use a KA 1.0 installation to connect to a KA 1.2 i get "wrong version" as the error. Thats better than the "remote error" message I get with all 1.2s So my 1.2 may be the problem.

KA is not in the public domain. Paramount owns the Star Trek rights, and we still hold the rights to very specific pieces of the game. We're not in a position to release any bits of KA to the public domain or make them available.

Heck, we don't even have any copies of the game except for one box sitting in a meeting room (and I think that box is empty).

Someone did a fan patch:

I'm not sure what it fixes.
