Upon returning, when I approach Knight Rhyse , he will not reward me for completing a cleansing mission.

Have I alienated the BOS somehow?

Are you sure you killed every one or thing at the site?

Your reward is seeing his butt as he walks away.

On a more serious note, did the quest tell you to report back to Rhys? If not, then you haven't completed the quest yet, check the journal and his quest. Click on his quest will give you the marker where you need to go next on the map.

te 2 possibilites are:

1. all enemies were not cleared

2. you were banned from bos

Is this the Cleansing the Commonwealth radiant quest? Sometimes that bugs out and doesn't actually process that you cleared out a area, and you'd need to crack open the console to get it all sorted out. It bugged out for me on Breakheart Banks, which seems to be a hotspot for other players aswell.

BOS has shunned me.

They are not hostile, but I cannot do any business with them.

Did you finish the game and join the BoS beforehand?

I don't like Knight Rhyse's snarky attitude towards me despite the fact I am Sentinel.

He deserves to be sent off to the brig for that.
