A guy went on a rant about the inclusion of Christian themes in TES (the word crusader). I totally agree, Christianity shouldnt appear in the series, but the word crusader, as the quote says, has other meanings. Hows that for alot of comas in a sentence? haha

They are also the paradigm of religious architecture in the European world, and European architecture heavily influenced the architecture in Oblivion. They had to make a religious structure and a chaple seemed to fit the Imperial Religion better than, say, a mosque. I agree completely that worldly religion has no place in TES but its a weak connection and a necessary one in this case. The temples had to be distinguishable as temples, so they used a building with which most players are familiar. But yeah, this is straying from the topic.

Well they could make it more unique from real-world religion if they had Daggerfall type religion, which I think did it the best. The Eight had their own separate temples of worship rather than a unified faction and each temple had quests and a knightly order protecting it. The temples conflicted with each other, and each had a different function or method and different benefits for joining each temple.

It had far more depth than Oblivion religion, which had very little mention of the differences between gods other than their history and areas of governance. I feel like they removed the Aedra's individuality too much in Daggerfall and Morrowind.

Though personally, I didn't mind the references to Christianity, most fantasy settings are influenced by it and have been since original D&D with the cleric class.

Eh, I'd rather not have them return. This is a new game, a new land, a new era. People keep on making threads like this ("Do you want to be able to return to a part of Cyrodiil?" "Do you want this questline to return?" etc.) and I honestly don't get why. Yes, Oblivion and its content were great, but this is Skyrim. The new content will be just as interesting and fun to play. If you want to play Knights of the Nine, play Oblivion, not Skyrim.

The Nights of the Nine was stupid. I hate it whenever they reference Christan crusaders. Guess what, it's TES, Jesus doesn't exist in the game, the term crusade means "Christ's aid". Therefore if Jesus doesn't exist in the lore the word crusader shouldn't be part of the lore. Nor should there be Catholic style churches or Christan style rituals. Edit: or monks.

Any kind of holy, divine, light stuff probably have some kind of influence drawn from old "Christian" or "Catholic" stuff. I don't see why you're so upset about the term crusade being used in a game such as TES. That term has several meanings and does not necessarily just refer to "Christ's aid". If you're going to complain about holy stuff, then you might as well whine about dark magic, swords, maces, and basically everything else in TES and many other games because all these stuff draws influence from all sorts of different things.

Depends on how strong Imperisal influence was in Skyrim before the civil war.
If it was low, KOTN should not be present as they have no ways of establishing themselves there

If Imperial Influence was not THAT low, they should be there. Since 200 years have passed since their restoration, they do not need to be good guys (hell, you can even make them villains). However, they should be mostly present in Empire controlled territories then
Of course, if they are in it would be good to have some kind of a counterweight for Nord sympathizers, like a faction that is created to fight against KOTN's assimilation attempts.
IMO, that would deepen the Imperial Vs. Nord element of the game and the more conflict between those two groups, the better IMO.

A lot of TES is based on something from real world. Hell, Skyrim is based on Scandianvia and Vikings. It is many years too late to complain about similarities with real world :P

That is also true. You really can't call the Knights of the Nine an expansion pack. There just wasn't really much you could do.

That was a DLC, not an expansion. The only ones who called it an expansion were some idiotic reviewers who didn't care to get their facts right and thus spread misinformation. Hell, one of developers practically yelled at an interviewer because the interviewer called upcoming KOTN an expansion ^_^;

Whats with people wanting the developers to re-hash old idea's instead of new features?

There are numerous EA titles if this is your thing.

Whats with people saying something before they think?

Obviously the storyline of Skyrim's KOTN wouldn't be the same as OB's if it was there.
If you are talking about a Guilds returning, that was part of TES for a long time now.

Knights of the nine were a bunch of disturbing sadomasochists (not by their filosophy but by their quests). I really won't miss them.

Of course they can be influenced by Christianity, but they should make it a little less obvious. Maybe have a made up word that means crusade. When it comes to the churches I just don't think literally having a Catholic chapel makes any sense. Chapels are designed from the ground up for monotheism and they seem really out of place in a religion that worships many gods. I think each temple should have it's own look that reflects the personality of its patron god.

They could probably make an interesting quest where some remnants of the KotN are searching for some long-lost relic believed to be in Skyrim. One misc quest would do. Individual Knights could be carrying bits and pieces of the armor, as they have declined over the years.

I don't know. That group just doesn't seem very ... well Nordish. Reference to them in a book is fine.

I would like to see maybe some other simular group of Nord origin. A little less holy and a little more barbaric.

The Knights 2.0 had Nord twin brothers as its founding members, how much more Nord to you need?

Hell yes, I want to see the Knights of Nine return! I mean, your main char started them back up in Oblivion, so I wanna see what 200 years has done for them.

Seems a little too iffy of a faction to include, considering many people probably haven't bought that plug-in. Others might have bought it, played it for two minutes and thought the idea was lame and went back to littering poison apples in churches. If this faction's re-emergence wasn't so dependent on player choice in Oblivion then it wouldn't be a problem. I can just see a bunch of people getting mad at seeing them in Skyrim and thinking "I never did that."

As I mentioned before, crusade doesn't have just one meaning. Because of this, the term crusade fit the KotN perfectly. I'm not even going to go into this thing you mentioned about monotheism because religion is such a touchy subject. Just because a chapel looks similar to another chapel of another faith doesn't mean it is a "Catholic chapel".

I would love to see them return, as the type of character I will be playing is a knight/healer. Plus my favorite weapon in Oblivion was The Mace of the Crusader. At the very least, I hope someone will Mod in the armor and weapons, that would be very cool.
