Knock Knock Crytek - its about time we got some dang answers

Post » Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:07 am

@ SLIPro: its called an opinion. If you disagree with my opinion and would like to debate about it, I will gladly do so. However, there is no need to troll over me as that will accomplish nothing.

@ Guss: I do see your point of course. Flamers idea I don't think would work because of the stupid drama it would cause when someone gets rated low... Honestly though Guss, the old gamesas was dead. We all knew each other well and there were no arrogant assholes. The badges going out to early sign ups now is fine I guess, because all the newer members that post once and leave, have left. Then when the next wave of people come in, they will be able to see the people that have been here from the start.

@ Flamers: I'm pretty sure that your post count randomly glitched to 1,000, because when I first signed up and saw you, you already had that many posts.

@ Kuro: yeah, sadly a lot of veterans never started posting on this website again. It is sad to see so many good discussions fly out the door because of it. Of course new people will come in over the time, but it will take quite a while for them to replace the talented and knowledged members we saw here before. And also, hopefully 8Ball doesn't give the community managers an excuse to get rid of him.

I just have to say, honestly, who cares who has been here the longest? Everyones point is relevant regardless. There is information in every post. If someone starts another "When does the Beta start" thread, yeah at first glance it is annoying but if you think about it, this tells us a lot.

1) Crysis's website hype is still spreading perhaps by other postee's recommending the site to friends which is good for the game as a whole.
2) People are psyched about the game and are looking for more information.
3) People generally assume that our community is helpful and knowledgeable.
4) Most of all, there is not enough information about the Beta available in an easy to access way.
5) This thread topic is like a sirens call for trolls. If you ever want to tally up the current amount of narcissistic members on the site at any one time, make one of these threads and stand back. They can't resist the opportunity. (No offence to the helpful posters)

And who knows, we might get an answer from someone at Crytek (I know, not holding my breath) Point is, don't write people off because they make ignorant or redundant comments. There is information and the opportunity to learn in everything around us. Besides, your the only one that cares how long you've been here. I sure don't. :D

All due respect,

Enfadel

I started possibly 20 threads that were in the old forum in the first day so that information was available but then due to this stupid system they are lost forever now

For the rep thing I mean that you can ONLY rep up, I feel that it would be a good way to show helpful members :)

Can we also stop worrying about my post count, it's not the most important thing in the world :)

@Talon, I dont usullay find any of SLIpro's commants to be very usefull,so dont usually pay attention now, but you I listen to, you can give valuable input.
I know the old site was dead, I followed its decline from the start, that was a sad thing to see, But I did see just a little pouting from time to time but of course, you have to have some situations that are less than perfect, thats a fact of life.
The old site was mostly, friendly and welcoming, as with Crymod. the info that can be gotten there and the tireless input from its memebers is priceless to people like me.
Re: recognition awards/badges and such, I thought Flamers idea was at least a start, but as far as I can see any idea would have some kind of problem built in, and I said all along.
I wouldnt know where to start with that with a resolve, its what I would term,
A meazma,
I dont even know if that is a word, its one I came up with when I got married, and was meant to mean mystery, why else would I have signed those damm papers, lmao :D

@Flamers
Nice try with the resolve R: recognition, it was a solid start, i liked it, but as Talon pointed out, it may have problems, but I tend to think any Idea along those lines would have some kinda problem built in.

Talon is quite right when he points out that the site will eventually settle, I have watched with interest, how gamesas is evolving with regard to the user input at least, it has changed somewhat allready, and will keep changing in the forseeable future.
@Enfadel
your post up there is a perfect example of why this site will continue to evolve for the present time, nice one. :D

i think this is getting of topic pretty fast XD
maybe the reason many of the "old" members dont come back is because they dont like the layout and functions(not yet) and get generally annoyed by the 500 topics: WERE IS MY BETA....
persons like me for example lol.

but i do agree its time for some answers by now. if i have to believe the staff they are trying to get answers but theyre just getting ignored?? or something similar

True. I hope the deadlock ends soon and we can get some answers.

@ Flamers: the idea of only being able to go up would be a good idea, and I hope it is implemented.

@ Enfadel: you are correct in a way, but the redudancy happens so much that its sometimes impossible to see any value in it.
I already know the bias in their opinion (Kuro - conpiracy negative, Darklight - MW2 is Cryteks idol, Aegis - Crytek rules, Zezeri - optimistic, Flamers - helpful, etc)
Goddamn it Talon, get it right, I'm the overly cynical forum troll lurking in the shadows :D

Hehe, they do currently page split, but it's a rather large amount of posts before it does so.

Bumped, because the thread was falling off the bottom of the second page, and since there's no display third page or search that means it's basically gone.
