Knock Knock Crytek - its about time we got some dang answers

Post » Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:55 am

Most of you guys are plain negative now. If truth be told, you guys should leave. You're just making any thread based on Crytek negative, whereas you're so interested in this game? That doesn't make sense.
@zukov - Agreed. A lot of weirdness so far on Crytek's part. If they are going to ship in November, then this game is already finished and in quality testing stages. By next month they'll giving it to EA to start production and distribution. So, I guess the PC scenes show it to be a total port, and God knows if we will ever see any MP, console or otherwise until this thing releases. The emptiness of these forums says it all.
Ummmm.. Hello?? The game is in pre-beta... What makes you think they are done working on the content?

And sorry, but these forums are empty because for some odd reason this franchise has a really hard time attracting the press. Not because Crytek is making a "console port", as you would put it. :O

As Flamers says, you guy's are dreaming if you think this thing is in Alpha or Beta. Its done, and in QA stage. Release is going to be in November in time for Christmas. Crytek is obviously after sales. They are going to release as fast as they can. As far as all proof shows, there will be little difference graphics wise between console and PC. And yeah, the new forum svcks. The reason why most people are on InCrysis and Crymod.

The game is in pre-beta... The beta likely won't be ready for us until late September. You are corect that it is not so much content anymore. However, I'm sure that right now they are transitioning from finishing projects to the refining and balancing stage. Many things can and will be changed during the refining stage, like the HUD. I don't know if you played the Crysis Demo, but the actual game actually had a lot different about it. Crysis 2 from E3, and what we see in the future beta versions, will most likely be and feel drastically different. Just because they aren't making new levels or weapons anymore, doesnt mean that things won't be changed. Crytek needs work on refining games correctly however. If you recall Crysis at launch, it was horribly riddled with bugs. It was as if everything that was worked on in the Crysis Beta was trashed in the end. :O Hopefully for Crysis 2, Crytek can actually refine and enhance the game correctly this time. You should be worried about how well of a refining job they are doing, not whether or not that weapon will be modelled, as that is where Crytek has faultered in the past.

How do you know all of this information? How do you know it's finished? Have any proof to back it up? Any proof?

Jeez. Get a grip Kuro. Do you have any sources to back you up? If not, don't bother saying that's that.

Amazon now reports release date November 29th. Crytek themselves have said "Holiday" release date, which we all know means Christmas.
Straight from the Horse's mouth. Its obvious.

... I'm not so sure Crytek is done just yet. Unless you are a high ranking employee of Crytek you shouldn't be saying anything pre-maturely. I suspect Crytek is refining each aspect of the game to fix bugs and finish each level. Making a level as sophisticated as it is, will not be easy. Just looking at each level in Crysis, you can assume it took several days to finish the details. "Flamers" and "Kuro6" if you don't have any smart information that is based off logic, why are you on this forum?

Lol, Bobby, if you don't like what I say, why don't you leave? I should start collecting bad attack posts. I think I'll call it "When Noobs Attack!".

Oh, and if you would bother keeping up with Crytek's news posts, you would realize that they are the ones saying they are releasing at Christmas. Also, I guess Amazon, one of the largest internet retailers in the world is wrong too. Sorry to doubt your "opinion".

See, this is one of the things I dislike most about gamesas. There is no way to distinguish between newbies, active old-time users, and old-time users lurking like me because all the post counts are reset.

well i have most of my posts back DL :P

@boddy if you have a team working on it then a SP level don e over LAN can be pushed out in about 4 weeks probably if they worked 9-5 on it

all games have about 4-5 months of testing before release, then they have the advertising campaign that they do to maximise sales, by this point the game is generally finished

now please learn more about game developing :)

Yup, I know. Just a couple tweaks here and there, but it does help fix some stuff. :)

DarkLite is correct. We need that badge system implemented very badly, for the people that were here before the relaunch.

I agree with implementing a badge system, but i was pretty sure the idea was, people who joined in the first week would get a badge of recognition.
I'm thinkin that idea is to prevent the oldie/noobie war, that might have started if you look at some of the negative posting, between console/ PC users first couple of weeks,
Lets face it sometimes even on the old forum, people still had to be banned from time to time, no discredit intended.
however Crytek Staff did state in an early post, this was to be a clean slate for previouse bans, so I am thinking it might just be a clean sweep all around.
Credit where its due to former mebers and pretty sure as the site settles down, such things will become apparent, I imagine the potential will be included for sigs/avatars.

Unfortunanely CE3 doesn't support network editing :p Anyway, if a SP level was done in 4 weeks, we'd have slightly more levels in Crysis XD

i said if they were ALL working on it

also the code takes ages to write ;)

@enfadel i mean mean who come on after playing the game for about 2 hours, never looked at the code compared to me who has played 2500+ hours and looked at the code for several years, who's going to know more?

Flamers
I get what you mean, but are you suggesting an air of authority, or superior stance, rememeber if thats the case, that would be counter productive to the learners.
I will always listen to good advice from someone who treats me in a posative way, even from my new friend Talon95,
He actually won me a bet :D although I had to say he is some kinda Egghead genius, what he wrote was so convincing, but it was also given in a friendly manner.
he didnt need a badge to convince my friend to pay up, lmao.
What I did suggest previously, was that it would surely become apparent to any newcomers, who the Oldies were, and that alone might suffice, with the influx of console gamers now joining gamesas, on this new site.
I didn't wish in my suggestion, to rob the due credit from the old users
but this is going to be a difficuilt transition, I have no wish to offend anyone, and have no idea how to get around this. so time will tell. :D

Level Designers don't do coding usually ;p Just think of how the Crysis Levels looked at E3 and how they look now.

And don't forget, that there's a difference between having tons of levels from a finished game to learn from and a WIP-game where you've to find out what works and what doesn't etc...
