Wait, you put a bet on that Guss? I was just trying to help you out, not win a bet. ^^ I didn't need a badge to convince your friend, but I shouls have one as I'm an oldie. ;)

Ahrek/punchy, yeah we know its a lost cause, but one can always dream.... =D

Zezeri you have some good points. The level designing in Crysis 2 actually looks phenomenal. Its the ToD and Colour Grading that need adjustments. But all that will be fixed by release. ;)
Wait, you put a bet on that Guss? I was just trying to help you out, not win a bet. ^^ I didn't need a badge to convince your friend, but I shouls have one as I'm an oldie.
And as I have said Talon, you did help me out, personally, in a big way, but aside from that you did also prove a point that won my bet, I am rather getting the opinion, even after my other post's, that to be an Oldie, means " to know more, and to be superior"
But you get new members who know nothing, compared to the old members who do...

Flamers
Is one instance.
And as I and others have said, > Oldies< will know each other,
>Oldies< will become apparent to Newbies as the site settles.

There would seem to something of a feeling growing here, like Oh No, now we have to have all the console troop on bourd, and what do they know,

I am hoping my feeling is wrong, as this is "presumably" not the intention of the new gamesas, I thought the site was supposed to happily encompass the gaming community as a whole, and that where needed, the "Oldies" would be more than happy to be helpfull where needed.

If I go to Crymod for advice, no one forum member gives me the feeling that they are better than me, they are always welcoming and helpfull, Badge or not, "Oldie" or not, but then I am a PC player.

Anybody could have signed up on the old gamesas, only months or even weeks before the changeover, would that make them, "Oldie Noobs", and should they have that badge also.

Let me be very clear, I mean no offence whatsoever to anyone at all, but the only thing I have seen in respect of recognition mentioned, was Early sign up recognition, Clearly this is a sensative issue, and I cannot even begin to suggest a remedy, but as I have also said, I personally think things such as previouse Admin/Mod, at least will not go out of fashion. :-)

Everyone starts out as a noob at one point. To get old you had to be young, or new. So you should help out and welcome the newcomers as much as possible so that they will want to stay here and learn more, or stay here and help other people from what they learned here.

The problem is when the young players think they know more and troll over the seasoned veterans of the franchise. This is why we need that badge recognition system. With the system, the newer members can clearly see who is more "wise" and knows more, so the new members will think twice before they oppose their position.

Personally, I will consider and evaluate an older members like Zezeri, Flamers, Kuro, Arctic Eagle, Aegis, Ahrek, DarkLight, IED, and others; more so than the newer member. This is because they have experience with Crytek titles, I already know the bias in their opinion (Kuro - conpiracy negative, Darklight - MW2 is Cryteks idol, Aegis - Crytek rules, Zezeri - optimistic, Flamers - helpful, etc), and I can play these into account when I read their posts. I am sure that when they read my posts, they take my bias into account when considering my opinion.

With newer members it is hard for them to spot out generally the older members, who knows more, and their bias. Of course they need to find the bias themselves, but atleast the part of finding out who is more "wise" and who they should consider most will be easy.

Talon - comes from a gamers point of view :)

and can i just say sorry about my previous posts, it just annoys me when people are new and COMPLETELY ignorant of other people :)

and Talon i'm becoming more of a Crytek cynic and becoming more interested in fixing problems with it, same post style though :)

Yes, Crytek is not God. They have some severe problems with Wars still, that they probably will never address. Only through community programmers have some of those issues been fixed or at least patched up enough to make a difference.

What I really don't like about Crysis 2 is a lack of any quality PC "in game" video as of yet. They have put out lots of Xbox video, but the only PC video we have seen so far is the C2TV lowest end video. At least, one hopes that they were just joking.

Crytek's silence on the matter is getting deafening.

@Talon95, thanks for the input, I agree, My intention was to point out most of what you say, I am an extreme Crytek fan, long time fan of PC gaming in general, and OK so in the main, FPS. The first Computer I laid my sticky mits on was Sinclair ZX81.

I have been registered on a good few forums, from Gaming, through to the Regimental asscn forum, and so I can see what you mean about well developed friendships and backgrounds, and throughout, have wished to acknowledge my fellow seasoned veteran gamers.

I can use both console or PC, and so far I prefer my fellow PC Gamers, and its very easy to identify the new influx of arrogant know it all types, I hate that kind of attitudethat we have clearly and repeatedly seen here. from both console and PC gamers alike.

My son, plays console, but from the first day of Crysis and taking over my PC to play it, has longed for the day he can play crysis 2 "when it finally gets released" on what I call, his Eggbox 360.

Look at your para.

With the system, the newer members can clearly see who is more "wise" and knows more, so the new members will think twice before they oppose their position..

You my friend are young .... and you do no more than a lot of people twice your age, fact without doubt, but you cannot assume, to know more than a new member just down to not knowing them, that is not so wise, and please, i mean no dissrespect in that

I have seen for myself on a couple of occasions, how seasoned vets, can react just as badly as noobs, so I still maintain my position on where do you draw the line for a badge.

Again, the only official mention of recognition so far was to early sign ups, here from the get go i think was used, The idea of a form of recognition for the members of the previouse gamesas is not so far as I know, an official idea. Perhaps It should be. Then

If someone signed up in the last two months of the old site, and they are complete arrogant buttholes who know absolutely nothing, they qualify for the badge that is now being unaficially proposed here.

So, as i have said, this is where the problems arise, so might I then suggest some dialogue between all those who require this recognition, and CryTek, to a satisfactory conclusion, as I do not have any idea how this can be resolved.

Safe to say, In true battle, a badge of any kind of staus would never be worn by a wise peron. for myself, Im quite happy to go with the whole idea, and I can allready hear whispers of who cares what you think, from some people. if I wanted advice, a badge would mean diddly squat to me, I would simply ask.

My only intention being to point out the problems that may arise, without offending anyone, I respect you all as fellow gamers, :D

Flamers, Hate to pile on but, how do you have so many post? You complained about the post count not moving over from the old site and I have not seen you post nearly as much as Guss or Talon. I was wondering if you were so consumed with "prestige" that you hacked the system, since I know your familiar with coding. You don't really have that much to prove, that you need to have 1000+ post on a brand new forum set up.

Either that or your an administrator, but I know a few administrators on the site that don't show it through a Crytek avatar change and they are quite content with @50 post. I guess they are content with letting their comments speak for themselves. I'm reminded of these young guys on Halo that get boosted or lag others out to get to 50. They are so preoccupied by obtaining some badge of recognition that they cheat to get it. What good is it if you don't earn it. I hope I'm wrong about you, clear this up for everyone if you don't mind. Please don't hack me for bringing this up.

All due respect,

- The Enfadel

the first 3-4 days you got 10 posts for starting a thread, not my fault

the first admin account was crytek_staff which has a similar post count to me but then they got stick from the community for not having the same person feel the community came to enjoy

and trust me i dont hack, i have many people who will back me up. i am not expert at code i have just studied the crysis code a lot and have recently had the chance to work with sitting duc and darklite, two of possibly the best coders after Hawkeye (may you rest in peace).

hope thats cleared the air :)

@guss i know what you mean but if you could have something like a rating system so they could be rated on how helpful posts were that would be nice, would that be a better solution to this problem?

also the Cry-Staff know who was active/helpful in the old forum, with many of them saying its harder to see us due to the samey avatars so they know this is a problem :)
Crytek had 3 years with Crysis, and look how that turned out. =/ Simply put, I think Crysis 2 needs to be pushed back to quarter one 2011. It would be for the best. I want Crysis 2 as well, but i realize that this game is going to take longer than what Crytek says.

Keep in mind that every Crytek title EVER has always been delayed. So I'm counting on the same thing for this title. Crytek never seems to realize just how long it takes to make a game. ;)
Just shut up please you are pissing all of us off. Fact is Crytek want Crysis 2 to be the Best Game of 2010 and another fact is that Crysis 2 will be released holiday 2010
the first 3-4 days you got 10 posts for starting a thread, not my fault
So if you started a thread in the beginning, you got a lot of post? how many did you have in the first couple of days? I know you were here in the beginning, but I barely saw any post from you before a week and a half ago. I'm not a post whore, I'm just curious. How many post do you think you actually have? Thanks
