Knock Knock Crytek - its about time we got some dang answers

Post » Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:05 am

There was a rebirth of the knock knock thread in the first couple days, and it has fallen through the pit of non-bumping ability. I say that it is about dang time we actually got some answers and action on the community requests and questions regarding Crysis Wars security exploits, Crysis Wars bugs, and more.

I mean like, we've only been trying to accomplish something with you guys for what? 9 months? I think it might even be longer than that.

Can we actually get some answers to the questions that we have asked you Crytek? The community of Crysis Wars is dead and you dont even try to remedy the situation. Far Cry had almost 2 years of patch support....come on! Show your current community some support, longer than 6 - 7 months of patch support!

What do you guys think? Some of you newer members dont know anything about the knock knock discussions, but i assume that you will find out pretty soon when people start responding. ;)

I wouldn't hold my breath. Crytek probably dimly remembers some game they made called Wars, but all focus now is on Crysis 3 and Kingdoms.

If Crytek pulls the same **** that they have in Crysis and Crysis Wars with Crysis 2, there will be no Crysis 3 for me. And Kingdoms can simply rot in hell, what a piss poor decision.
Not a constructive start...
I'm tired of constructive starts. I have been coming up with constructive starts to issues for 9 months now, and so have others. We were SO CLOSE to getting a real answer from Crytek, and this website relaunch swiped all hope of that away... I have ran out of patience, so being constructive at this point is not going to get me anywhere, as it hasn't in the past.

Simply put, Crytek PROMISED answers to the community on several big issues plauging Crysis Wars, and there has been no answer. So I am furious and have every right to be.

The community (from before the relaunch), wants answers.

Many of you are excited about Crysis 2, and so am I. However, I don't want to twiddle my thumbs with a dead Crysis Wars game for the next 5 months. Crytek needs to do something to revive the current community. You can't go forward successfully when your previous games failed. We don't want to see the same mistakes happen in Crysis 2. Right now, we need heightened community support by Crytek to work with the community to help resolve current issues, before moving on to the next. Ok, I guess I did get a little constructive after all. :P

It's understandable that you're frustrated but if -any- thread, on -any- topic turns abusive/spammy then expect it to be removed. I know that's something you wouldn't want and i know many people would assume that Crytek would be silencing the masses by doing so, but if it simply breaks the rules then it must simply be removed.

Here's the old thread: http://www.gamesas.com/forums/feedback_support/knock_knock_iv_new_thread

Topics are now bumped as they're posted in, so i'd suggest popping your post in there so it's all in the one location and if there's one centralised location for information then it should help the cause.

Cheers.

Hi guys,

We're still aware of the issues and myself and Lee continue to raise them internally to get some clarity on the situation, unfortunately there isn't much point in us posting "no news this week guys" repeatedly in the forums which is why you haven't had any responses on the topic since the re-launch.

That said, we're optimistic about having some news for you on the situation soon.

That's the main reason I didn't keep doing the same message every week.

@tom
well, we haven't made that good experiences with these kind of threads and I hope you understand that we aren't as patient as we might have been with past threads.
We just like to get assured you don't forget about it and considering the stuff from once, I think it's reasonable :)

Hehe, Crytek won't be removing any posts of mine any time soon. :P

Thank you for responding Tom, it's nice to know that you are still trying to get answers. However, my patience has gotten quite thin. We hope to get answers before Crysis 2. ;)

Guss600, I don't think you were here before the relaunch, but this has been an ongoing issue for almost a year. Its kind of hard for me to say cheers to the same answer we were given months ago. :(

Well anyway, it would be nice to get some reassurance once in a while Crytek! :)

Talon, Ive been waiting so long, i have given up on asking for answers. I do wonder what everyone is up to in the studios though. I'm sure there is a reason Cry-Tom doesn't have the answers we need. I am just wondering what the reality of it is. Are they building up for a super reveal? Did they run into a snag with the software and are in a major repair now with no new content? Or is it something much more interesting like, Cry-Tom doesn't want to knock on Cevat Yerli's door to ask for updates for us because Mr. Yerli is under so much pressure from EA to ship that he has been systematically firing one employee a day until the programmers emerge from solitary confinement with finished code.

Or much more likely, they have been consumed with writing hacker busting code, a code that activates when a hacker tries to break the game. In honor of CE3, they decided to create the most complex code ever created, it involves running a simulation in which Chuck Norris must fight his Mirror image clone to the death. Knowing that this Epic battle would cause unforeseen galactic disturbances and take trillions of years to play out, even CE3 must submit and crashed the entire system. Perhaps the power of the Chuck Norris conundrum could not be contained by the Epic firewalls of Crytek and AI Chuck Norris has become self aware only to blow up all computers in the Crytek in an attempt to crumble the building around him to teach Mankind a lesson about trying to play God (aka Chuck Norris). Perhaps Cry-Tom is writing us from an internet cafe a few blocks away from the rubble in a half crippled state after barely escaping with his life as the building clapsed around him. So Talon, if you want to bring up bad memories about all the friends lost at Crytek on that horrible day of judgement, keep asking for updates. You have my condolences Cry-Tom.

That actually made me laugh. That Chuck Norris battle must have happened recently, as that Crysis 2 TV Episode went up only 3 days ago. :D

The reality probably is that Crytek doesnt care, they told the community managers this, but the managers know that we will be infuriated if they say that, so they keep quiet.

^I hope that is not true... Crysis 2 cannot be the same mess that Crysis and Crysis Warhead/Wars was. =(

[This is not a rant, but true]
You don't have to be smart to see what's happening now. Seems like the foundation and construction is braking down quickly. To underline that, you just have to see how many new posts are made at even Crymod and gamesas. At almost every game-site you can find is that the Media was saying that Crytek is going to release a Demo (SP or MP but doesn't matter), but editted maybe for further notice.

I do not have to start again about the Knock-Knock thread again and the contents, as r.i.p. Hawkeye even strated that a year ago when Luigi studied the expliots.

The traffic that the websites(mentioned above) are getting is just that people do not want to miss out anything and nothing else.

The community is a "aside job" of Crytek and, how many posts are answered lately by them? Even when the Crytek employees are doing this in their spare / lunch time, so we are in our free time.

I have said it before and Crytek can't deny. Without the community and third parties of FAIR modding, the game was dead and not that sold that much.

Media, Community, Fans, People interested in games of Crytek are disappointed Cevat.
[This is not a rant, but true]

The politics "Inside Crytek" need to be changed quickly.

If it wasn't for the brilliant mapping community, I would have quit the game much sooner. Crytek can't do a repeat of what they have been doing since 2007... I still want to see that 2004 goodness of Far Cry that made ne a lover of your games in the first place. Compared to Far Cry, both of your recent games were total ****, and shouldn't even have been released.

What is Crysis Wars? Is it a full game, or just an expansion?

If it was an expansion, then why bother fixing it? I don't have it, and surely seems a waste of money. I'd let Crytek work on Crysis 2. I want them to work on a full game rather than some small expansion pack for MP.

I saw this knock knock thread in the old gamesas. It's true that you we won't be getting an answer, but I think there's more important issues at hand. Let's just hope they put full support for upcoming titles.

Well, Crysis Wars is a full MP game that comes with Warhead. Yeah, it does have some really bad flaws, the worst being that everything is decided "client" side. As one enterprising hacker found out, you can even tell the server there is a tank in front of you, and the server will go "really? ok. " and spawn a tank in front of you on the MP map! If you ( a client ) tell the server you just killed everyone with one shot from a pistol, it will believe you, and send everyone's client computer a death message. Bang. Everyone on the server dies at once.

So, yeah, there are major flaws. But on the bright side, we have some great community programmers around, that have come up with programs like SSM and others, which try to block all this stuff and do a pretty good job of it. So you really don't see much cheating any more on the servers. If you do, it is probably the admins themselves that are cheating, and I have seen that many a time on some bad servers. Just stick with well known ones and you'll be fine.

Another bad flaw in CE2 is that you can't make maps over 8 x 8 km. You're supposed to be able to, but it crashes the computer when your character crosses the 8km boundary line.

Hopefully, all this will be fixed in CE3. I really don't care so much about the SP, I really want to see what they can do with MP, editor, and SDK.

Hehe, its the truth though. Compared to Far Cry, both Crysis and Crysis Warhead/Wars are doggy doodoo. I mean, Far Cry has over 20 hours of SP, 4 (or 3? i forget) MP gamemodes. Crysis 9 hours of SP, 2 gamemodes. HALF AS MANY THINGS TO DO! I find that unacceptable.

Personal opinion, really. I had 100x more fun in Crysis than FarCry. Though, this is really off topic at the moment...
