Knock Knock, Crytek. Our Community and the Demo Dilemma

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 5:21 pm

Lol Quanz. If you bothered to read more than a couple sentences as to why we are pissed off, then you would understand why.

The demo is just a fraction of the real problem at hand here.

Yes, there is still time for a demo/footage to be released, but now is the time to lobby for it, before it is too late. Big businesses like Crytek tend to operate very slowly to a consumers demands. It could be up to a month any results to this come about, which is why we need to fight for it now before it does become too late.

I know there is more than the demo problem going on here but when I come on the forum and see multiple posts on how Crytek has betrayed you by not giving you the demo that just gets under my skin for some reason, sorry if I sounded like that is all that is getting you mad, but you can't tell me that it isn't a bit silly to get mad over the demo problem, as I said it is a privilege to get a demo, not a right

Oh and to address you saying that I don't know why you guys are worried, I do understand that you are probably getting worried that the quality of your gameplay might not be up to what you have been waiting for, and I am hoping that the game is good for everyone and that no one is disappointed in the end

I just signed up to post here because I was frustrated in the lack of footage for anything other than the 360 version of the game. I was looking forward to getting this for the PS3, but I've seen nothing to quell my concerns of it turning out to be a poor port. It's a capable machine to be sure, but everyone knows developers have had a tricky time taking advantage of the hardware in the past, and Crytek's silence hasn't been a help.

I would suspect that the footage you see in trailers is taken from the PC version, but I still think they've slapped their original fan base in the face.

For some reason I do have a hunch that things may turn out favourably, but favouritism for a specific platform when a game is multiplatform is silly as hell. Just so frustrating.

With this is mind, a Pc demo might not be far out of reach. :D

are you guys seriously canceling your pre-order over a stupid demo? the game will be out in a few months, who cares about a demo! i had no idea this game was even coming out for the 360, cuz i thought it could only run on the PC. but since they announced a demo, now i know it will be available on consoles which is a huge breakthrough. if this game runs 1/2 as good as it looks in the video's then the 360/PS3 community will totally embrase a new FPS. you all should be glad more people get to enjoy what you PC gamers have come to love in Crytek over the years. Console gamers finally get a glimpse of some awesome Crysis 2 in a demo for 2 weeks. big deal, everyone gets the full experience in March anyways. just relax already! reading all the cry baby posts in this forum is getting old fast!

Yeah, same. Cevat didn't seem too inclined to do demos for any platforms so I guess it's good that at least the 360 is getting a demo. BUT that doesn't mean it's ok for them to ignore platforms besides the 360.

Anyway, I also hope the game is really good in its final form (I think everyone here does - even if they don't show it all the time). We're all here to support the game and we all want it to do well, but sometimes you need to raise your voice a little to get what you want ;)

Feel free to read a bit more in depth as to why we are actually angry.

This has to do not only with the demo, but also the complete lack of information and marketing of the PS3 and PC versions for this game. The lack of marketing for the PC/PS3 has caused us to lose faith in Crytek's ability to deliver a working multiplatform game.

The PC/PS3 have yet to see a single pixel or frame of Crysis 2, a beta, and now a demo, while the Xbox360 has had all of these. Do you now understand the frustration? It is not just the demo, but a multitude of things that have caused this.

Seperate platform forums will not be created now, they will most likely appear around the time of release. The main reason for this is the console community presence on gamesas is not that large at the moment and we feel these sections would not create enough unique topics to warrant having them, so for now the general discussion is sufficient.

So the very people that make up your forum aren't entitled to a single pc screenshot. Can we get an explanation as to why this is.

The same tidbit goes for us Ps3 console players too, I'm afraid. :(

*bump*

Information should be forthcoming, guys. :)

But yeah, a couple screenshots wouldn't hurt anything. As of now there is barely any proof the PC and PS3 versions of this game exist.

That's just plain evil and depressing to hear. The Pc version should exist at least.

I thought Knock Knock threads were for joking around. They were banned in some sites, its a miracle that crytek would reply to a thread with such a title :P

Whats really hilarious, is that this thread is about the lack of crysis 2 support for a console and the pc. While you might think it about the demo. Read the bloody title first before some of you post.

In fact, recent polls suggest that the PC/PS3 fanbase consists of up to 75% of all potential customers.

This may be true, but 90% of that 75% is PC. PS3 is a very insignificant minority.

Apparently not yet. Hopefully Tom can squeeze an answer out later today of some sort. :)

Very true, but since the PS3 and PC are both being neglected here, I do not want to sound biased. Every platform of this community deserves to be treated with equal marketing, which is the real problem at hand here.

The mods actually have commented already and are working on an official answer, view pages 18 - 19. Hopefully today gets a real answer.

Keep up the support, any additional comments as always are appreciated!

Hi guys,

The issues you've spoken about here I have raised internally. As I am sure you can appreciate everyone is extremely busy at this time with work on Crysis 2 as we're so close to launch, so an immediate response is unrealistic. When I have something I can share with you, you can be sure it'll be posted immediately in the forum. Having been around in this community for 2 years I am well aware of how strongly everyone feels on this matter and I wont let it carry on unanswered for long.

thanks, Tom. We understand how everyone at Crytek can only say so much about whats going on, but its leaving a lot of people in the dark here, and we need some answers.

At least, this is enough proof to see that their listening to us and that their taking us seriously. To avoid another exclusive fiasco.

While your at it, why don't you sticky this thread until this issue gets resolved. It may be here for a while :)
