Knock Knock, Crytek. Our Community and the Demo Dilemma

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:23 am

These countless (NUMEROUS threads on the Topic alone is pointless), the Dummy has literally been spat out & stomped on by numerous angry immature gamers! Why has a release Demo infuriated so many gamers, especially for PS3 & PC fans, I think we all know why there's so MUCH support for Microsoft, 2 simple reasons. Firstly MS have a huge Marketing Budget which we all know is probably 10x as bigger than Sonys it proves that with previous selling titles such as Black Ops & Modern Warfare, they sold more copies worldwide on the Xbox 360 Fact, even add with Red Dead Redemption the same thing. Sorry also add same with the DLC too. Secondly the Xbox 360 will sell More copies than PC & PS3 on that console only so CRYTEK want to maximise their profits in the right manner, so a sequel will evidentially arise in 3years time, why wouldnt Market it around the 360 it makes sense to me, also one note I actually believe that the GAME itself will look better on the 360 than the PS3 WHY? due to the codeing and programming of games is so much easier than the PS3 coding tools! Enough said a games a game, did Black Ops offer a Demo, No but all DLC ame out on 360 first & PS owners still brought it, Same with Red dead redemption looks graphically & plays superior on the 360 that's just due to easy coding as I stated before, so please all stop the whining it's Childish & support a great game with hopefully a prosperous future in today's FPS!

1)
For me, PC, PS3 and Xbox are equal. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, but each gives me a lot of fun.
2)
The decision was made and nothing was changed. Confidence built by Crytek has undermined or destroyed.
3)
The main question - for what was taken this decision and not another?
For what it was decided to give an exclusive demo even though the game is multiplatform and reasonably think demo should appear on all platforms, or on anything. It was easy to predict the reaction of people who planned to play at one of the two omitted platforms.
At 62 days before the release of this decision probably was not easy but it asked me forgiving me the answers and explanations that can help to get me and others in understanding the situation in which we all find

Thank You in advance for your answers
slightly offended fan :)

@Talon, sorry bout the OP mixup. When you're trying to sift through 50 threads on the same topic, you don't stop and check post times :P Fixed up now.

Regarding piracy topic - lets end that there please. Already had to hand out warnings for people suggesting they were going to pirate Crysis 2. It's not a welcomed topic on these forums.

I cannot understand why Microsoft and Crytek (I guess) consider the 360 a FPS console? No need to say that noone feels that way and everyone knows that PC dominates! Other thing is that ps3 also plays with a controller (cpt Obvious) with little differents between both controllers!

But the question is like i said: Why consider the 360 a better option for people to test a FirstPersonShooter game?
And of course im Raged that PC doesnt get a demo (which has not happened since... dunno what was the last demo of a High anticipated game i palyed)!

I hate this, because Crysis 1 was a amazing pc-only game. And that is stolen from us (pc gamers).
The xbox just can't make it's own games!

i usually dont buy more than 2 or 3 games a year, portal 2 is a must, dead space 2 is a probable one, crysis 2 is getting less likely as time goes by and most of my friends already quit from buying it
there are also a few very good games coming to the end of the year so im not so sure as i used to be that i am going to buy c2

People may not like what I have to say but it's an honest case. This fiasco with Crysis 2 is what pushes people to pirate. Not to get the game for free and never purchase it, but to make an informed decision on whether or not to buy it. Because in all honesty piracy seems to be the only way anyone is gonna get a demo. Which from a business perspective is pretty bad. Hell from a moral perspective it's bad as well. Why would a company not release a demo? Consumers have to make an informed decision and without a demo or beta we have no way of doing that besides waiting for it to leak. It's incredibly sad but it's the truth. Now people will probably reply back to me saying I pirated Crysis and Crysis warhead. But I would be glad to prove them wrong. I can easily take photos of both my copies that are sitting on my shelf at this very moment. I knew what to expect from Crysis and Crysis warhead because of beta's and demo's. I have no idea what to expect for Crysis 2 besides the high possibility of it being a port.

Easy solution? Give us a demo. It's not that hard to compile a small build like you are doing for the 360 demo. I don't care how much money Microsoft are paying you, because in all honesty you are losing money in the long run by taking that bribe.

Crytek you decide, potential buyers or potential pirates. If I was in your shoes I know damn well which way I'd go.

"Pirating just to try" is a horrible excuse that pirates made up. Everyone knows that if someone pirates a game then they aren't going to go buy it. If a person pirates, they pirate and I hope that they get caught and fined for it. There is absolutely no excuse.

They are the reason why exclusives don't happen for PC.

You know that the pirating is easyer to xbox360 and ps3 i think , than the PC ?

Ubisoft find a way to stop that , so no one can crack it, what about xbox360 , well
they find the game to a site , they burn it to a Disc with a burning program and they done
They dont need to w8 a crack or they dont need to even crack it
WHo has the bigest Pirating ?? quess that all the Platforms have so DOnt blame PC ok ?
There is a way to stop the pirating on PC , but the consoles will always fail to that xD

and a messege to all .. DONT EVEN THINK about to Pirate Crysis2 xD
We are here to suport it

You, sir, have no idea what you're talking about. Ubisoft's horrible "always online" DRM was cracked within days.

you guys are taking this too seriously. I am pretty sure the reason they didn't release the ps3/pc demo is because they wanted to finish the xbox version first then go on with the ps3/pc version.

So they only have 2 months left to work on both the PC and PS3 version? Huh? No it's most likely because EA has to pander to M$ because of the bribe money they're getting.

Crytek, WHAT THE F*CK is wrong with you? You've released beta AND demo for the Xbox 360 now, but only for the Xbox 360. HELLO??? I don't remember seeing that this is an Xbox 360 exclusive game, if you want any good sales on PC and PS3 platforms, you'd better get busy and give PC and PS3 players more info and the demo.

Remember that Crysis started out as a PC game, it was the PC players that made Crysis famous, and now you just ignore us, is this how you treat old friends now?

I don't see any logic in your doings neither, why would you release so much info, footage, beta, and even demo now for the WEAKEST platform of all??? Don't you want to show off how beautiful the game will look when it's played in DX11 on a modern graphics card that costs more than any of the consoles? If I was trying to market and sell a game, I would show the audience the pretty side of the product, and the Xbox 360 side of Crysis 2, I gurantee you, is the least pretty side Crysis 2.

The fact that we still have enough time left still gives me some faith in Crytek or EA (Whoever makes the decisions). If it finishes at the start of Feb, then I can assume there's still time left for a demo on both PS3 and PC.

Only time will tell.
