Knocking people out and fun related stuff

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 9:50 pm

I think it would be cool if Skyrim allowed you to knock people unconscious without killing them. Maybe if you knock them out using your fists. 50/50 chance of killing them if you use blunt weapons maybe..

Knock someone out and you have access to their inventory. So you could strip them naked(embarrass someone stripping them naked in a public place).

You could plant items on them, could be anotherquest like planting incriminating evidence on them.

You could have a whole quest line through the guards/barracks where you actually knock bandits out and are given a special set of magical cuffs to put on them via inventory and then you can "march" them back to town to collect some cash. You move up in rank and are given more cuffs so you can bring more bandits in etc.

Maybe you are paid to kill ne guy but one guy only and he's being guarded. You could sneak in if you were a thief, maybe distraction of a mgical type if a mage, or you could just kick everyone's butt on your away to the target via knocking them out.

It up a loot of cool stuff

what about buying someone a drink and slip something in it to knock them out and then slip something incriminating on them? I agree though it would be funny and great to knock someone out, strip them of their clothes and use the new dragging feature to drag them inside of a restricted part of a castle and watch the hilarity when the person is taken away by gaurds.. though.. i doubt the AI would be that great. But it would be awesome.

Well obviously there would be a way to kill them, like hitting them with any kind of attack while they are unconsious.

Totally agree. We should be able to take something from a NPC by force without killing them.

I think that anyone who plays any sort of stealth character understands the hilarity and epicness of totally screwing with other people from the darkness.

I love how many "wouldn't it be cool if..." threads there are on this forum.

I'd just like to loot people if I knock them out. That was always lame in Oblivion. I should be able to pickpocket people if they're unconscious. But I doubt this will be implemented, so therefore I highly expect this to be mere imagination at work than what will actually come to fruition once we hear more details.

Mai'q hears that people want to strip unconscious people naked, Mai'q thinks these people are perverts :P

that being said lol i would probably love messing around with that mechanic. I wouldn't be surprised, if i am not correct doesn't NV involve the ability to hit people until their fatique hits 0 at which point the character is knocked down?

There was a guy in oblivion who you could steal his key and he would get attacked by the guards for breaking into his own shop.

I think that people are just excited and want to have some fun discussions aside from the more serious "This has been confirmed" sort of thread. Otherwise there would be nothing to imagine and nothing to talk about.

I would love this. Especially being stealthy, and having to knock someone out and drag them somewhere, or knock them out and steal something. Or having to get by an imperial guard to get some information from a desk drawer, and i dont want to have the crime of murder.

I always wanted this. Think of the possibilities - tavern brawls that don't result in mass slaughter, prize fights, persuasion by "other means", kidnapping, mugging _and_ finally the ability to freeform role-play a do-gooder who doesn't kill humanoids, but captures and delivers them to the guards.

For all that TES is supposed to be "do what you want", you could really only kill and steal and if you wanted to play a "good" character, you were out of luck.

Also, remember all those hilarious stories about radiant AI before it was toned down into irrelevancy? Well, NPCs just knocking each other out instead of killing, it would preserve all the entertainment value without emptying out the gameworld.
Anyway, IMHO unarmed should always knock people out unless the characters wear brassnuckles or maybe do it like the Gothics, that you have to attack them once when they are down to kill them. Moving bodies would be nice, but not even really necessary, IMHO. Just plant some gizmo on knocked out NPCs that makes them follow the PC around, unable to fight or just teleports them away.

It should depend on what youhit them with and how.

HTH - Knocked out at low health but recover, additional few hits will kill
Weapon w/o finishing move - Pass out and gain no health upon recovery, additional hit will kill
Weapon with finishing move - Death

I agree, unarmed should just knock people out, otherwise barfights, which need to be in Skyrim, would result in multiple deaths by bludgeoning and nobody wants that. You should also be able to knock somebody out while sneaking, I doubt the common thief would have the nerve to kill a man just to rob his house or escape prison, they are much more likely to just knock them out.

Agreed, the ones that irritate me are the "They took out....TES is ruined...Bethesda svcks" threads.
