Do we know anything about Stealth yet?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:04 am

Just wondering if we know anything about how it's implemented yet? I'm hoping that light, cover and sound will have a major impact on your stealth. In past games it seemed to work well at lower levels but by high levels you could basically sneak around in front of someone's face. It's kind of nice because you can steal everything but then again sometimes you feel like it's a bit too overpowered. I have no idea how over/under powered I'd actually like it to be or what it should be though. I doubt I'd like it if it was completely realistic. "ha, ha, I see you.. you're dead now!"

I also wonder how it will work with perks and how much they'll impact how stealthy you'll be. In the past perks like Ghost would add a percent value to your overall skill. But if we don't have an overall skill number..???

between the dog, a hover Jet powered Robot and that pesky reporter they probably decided stealth was going to be next to imposible anyway so I suspect that the "Lone wanderer" perk is the ability to actualy BE stealthy

I'd guess stealth works the same way it has previously. But other than that no, we don't have any knowledge about stealth yet.

Beyond the fact we know your agility stat affect your sneaking (in a more direct manor compare to 3/NV) we don't know much of anything.

No info on any new mechanics

there was a mention in a recent article, but it was just the common filler 'or you can choose to tackle the situation stealthily and take your enemies out without alerting the other' kind of thing that gives no real info

Sneak was specifically mentioned as one of the perks that were formerly skills, but I guess that was already sort of known, since you can see it on their perk chart (row 3 of Agility I think).

The dog is optional. The jet is just there because you can't jump in the power armor (which is not a robot). And the reporter is an optional companion too. And a reporter can be sneak based too ;) Reporters are very fitting as a stealth character!

He meant that Codsworth is powered by a hover jet type thing not the [censored] power armor.

Ah. But again... Codsworth is optional... I mean... companions are not really a good argument that Bethesda removes stealth...

the joke was that being a typical Bethesda game your companions will basically negate a lot of your stealth. Especialy given that at least one of your companion choices is literaly Jet propelled . . .

ED-E with his sneaking beeps was very helpful while trying to go trough Black Mountain.

Anyway, I hope we don't get to see already seen (in every new video game that has stealth) mechanics such as INFINITE THROWING ROCKS.

Well one thing is sure, you'll have a much bigger freedom when it comes to making a gun silent, I suspect a large % of the guns will have the silencer as a mod option.

Assuming shotguns gets a suppressor, which I doubt since its not really that common of a trope, shotguns and revolves will most likely not be silenced (even tho there are RL examples of both taking suppressors)

Have to check back on the gun mod video, but it might not be impossible to mix the sniper barrel and the full auto mod.

You'll blast someone's face off with their shotgun and they'll respond "What was that...?!"

Well we can assume they will be using something like the eye from skyrim because it worked so well. Odds are good on the stealth boy making a return, maybe the stealthsuit too, but I kind of doubt that will show up again It was a somewhat broken DLC item. Hmm. With some of the stuff we know about the new skill system, I kind of think stealth will be more bounded and less prone to crazy extremes as we don't have a stealth skill. (though that depends on how they do the perks for it.)
