I know they're probably not working on TES: VI...

But Skyrim sold 20 millions copies!

Fallout 3 sold less than 5 millions, their other games are ok, but 20 millions is completely huge!

They could make a big effort, make a huge world all of tamriel available, an epic game, which would cost them alot BUT:

they'd soll so many games

the huge world and huge fanbase would allow them to make alot of addons

As far as I know, Bethesda didn't hire a ton of new developers, but with Skyrim success, why does it seem as if they don't care and don't have ambitions to break their own record?

It's only been two and a half years. They started working on Skyrim shortly after Oblivion came out, if I recall, and that was in 2006. Morrowind came out in 2001 or 2002, I believe. About five years has been the average so far, it takes em a while to make these huge games. They're probably working on Fallout 4 and TES6 at the same time at this point, they're just at different stages with each.

Well do they usually work on several big games at the same time?
Every thing points out they are working on fallout 4, and TES VI would come later probably later than usual (they have been releasing alot of games and TES online)

TESO has nothing to with Beth's development dpt. They develop two series directly. TES and FO, alternating between the two.

You are confusing Bethesda Softworks with Bethesda Game Studios. Softworks is the publishing arm and they have published a lot of different games developed by a number of game studios, BGS is the game studio who are making single player games, (we hope) Fallout 4 at the moment and later will go onto the next TES in the seies.

not necessarily.. they made several TES games, but only one FO game..

as such, we don't have the data to confirm if they "alternate" or not

OP I feel your pain and hope Bethesda wakes up to the needs of its customers.

This is not 2006 machines are faster, engines are better and colleges are graduating 100s if not 1000s of programmers every year.

Something I have done to help with all the waiting was to get a gaming PC. I have always played on consoles.

The PC gaming world is loaded with mods for the most popular Bethesda games and can add lots of value to your replay.

I believe it's entirly possible that they're going to release it to the generation after Ps4/XboxOne.

I'd hope that's the case. As OP says, with 20 million copies of Skyrim sold, it'd be great if they could wait until the next generation comes around, perhaps as a launch title. More customers = higher expectations, generally. PS4 and X1 are not huge improvements over PS3 and X360 (at least compared to PS2 + XBX) and another game dismally cut down to fit in old tech (which PS4 and X1 will be after the F4 cycle) is not gonna go down well.

I actually would not mind to see some more mini DLC's for Skyrim.. Like we did on Oblivion, i still wanna be able to properly play a bandit character in Skyrim :)

Oblivion - FO3 - Skyrim - FO4 (?)

That screams "alternate" to me.
