I know it's too late for this obviously but wouldn't it make

I personally think it would be awesome, especially for evil characters to be able to say burn down houses/huts. You have so many powerful magic skills and such I just think it's a waste to fire a very high power spell and not damage any of the environment around you. How about flaming arrows slowly lighting wooden buildings on fire if you need to attack a group in a fortified area? I think something like this could potentially add a lot of depth to the game.

Oh another thing, I don't think that if you decide to go on a rampage and torch half a town that it should just remain dead, that could make the game a real downer for a few minutes of fun. Perhaps NPCs could begin rebuilding and such, unless of course you just completely massacre the entire town down to the last person.

Nah, doesn't appeal to me and in a game world such as Bethesda's it isn't even remotely feasible anyway.

You can already murder, kill, and obliterate anyone you want, must you destroy their homes too?

this is especially flawed if they are indeed using the cell system again.

How about wounds? I'm sorry, when I deal damage to something I like a visible result, it's just me. It always bothered me in Oblivion that I could go to town on someone with sword who isn't wearing armour and never see a cut or anything.

I think the idea is a good one, and will sooner or later be in the series, it inevitable.

I'd like to be able to destroy places even if scripted.
There's a city built on a cliff that I'm itching to try it with if you're able to.

However if something is destroyed I strongly believe it should stay so, dead is dead, cause and effect, actions - reactions, Yin - yang.
Consequences of making a stupid choice, realism.. etc.

ll these matter, if you want to destroy something and not have it effect anything muck around on a self created world in a sim.
RPG's are about choices and feeling that if you make the wrong one you'll get the shaft.

I can vision dragons swooping down onto the town and burning it up. It would really be awesome if they had this.

I like your ideas! That is one thing I thought was really well done when I was playing Crisis is how their buildings were destructible. It really added to immersion. And what you said about visible cuts, I am for that idea as well.

That would happen in a scripted event, so itd be easy as replacing the cells. Buildings dont need to be destroyable for that.

Bah, looking at the OP...all people want to do is destroy! :flamethrower:

Howzabout using it for:

1) Creating pit traps
2) Creating snow shelters
3) Creating hide sites to spy on targets or snipe them through a spider hole
4) Being able to mark/blaze trees or trails

Oh, there are probably others :)

I release you to go about your most excellent and destructive ways :)

That is a great point, I would rather build and destroy. I believe it will be easier to implement in the game than destroying a building.

what about placing things? Morrowind had strongholds and that faction town. What if you could place/destroy building plans/buildings build from building plans?
so in any sufficiently empty and not plot important place you could build your own settlement?
surely thatd be a step towards without going to the extreme

id hate to agree with this, but he's right (the second part anyway). I can't honestly say what the Creation engine is capable of and what it supports, since this game is the first to use it. But coding and designing that much destruction, while being more epic than http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQcWmQsfFBY, it would just simply take too much resources to both store all that data and keep rendering the game. You would have to have tons of debris flying all over the place, and the game would have to be set up with interior buildings, instead of using the Interior worldspace to make independent cells to make it worthwhile. That means that every coin, cup and bottle in the building would have to use the physics engine and that would make Skyrim the Crysis of 2011.

Elder Scroll X... A post nuclear role playing game... With. Destructible enviroments! :D

So... It's too late to implement now? I want to KILL people and KILL their house! Why not? That will be cool.
