Know which faction I'll side with, but now it gets hard...

I'm definitely siding with the Railroad. But it's so hard to leave quests open and fail them. I want to get the Blind Betrayal quest concerning Danse, but since the BoS will become my enemy - how will I justify helping to rebuild Liberty Prime? Or getting Dr. Li to them when both the Institute and the BoS will become my enemies?

Also stuck with the Building a Better Crop and Political Matters (Diamond City major) quest. I accepted them, but now that I know what they entail and how Piper and myself feel about them, I don't think I want to do them.

Does anyone have any (roleplaying) advice?

You realized what was going on so you didn't help them?

You realized that the BoS is a bunch of PoS?

Yea for me I went through initially rooting for the BoS, they seemed like decent guys, maybe a bit too controlling of tech but honorable and dutybound. But when I got a certain point I realized they are zealots who have no room for right and wrong if it doesn't fit their code. So I dumped them for the railroad. I had a couple missions still up for them but once they were out, they were out. I just severed all ties with them, after jacking my power armor off the Prydwen of course.

@Fellby: You're right! I was sort of roleplaying that I was still infiltrating the Institute and BoS - but I already know I won't eventually side with them. So even though I'll probably miss out on some quests, screw them. Gonna do the Institute quest that will make BoS permanent enemies and proceed with the main quest. Thanks!

By the way, could anyone tell me more about Building a Better Crop? The guy that was replaced by a synth, why this was done specifically and what happened to the original guy?

The original guy got captured, tortured and then most likely killed. This was done so that Institute could get a farm to test some of their experiments on.

And his family got a better father and husband.

at first I was very confused about the intertwined factions and having to pick one to come out on top, but after playing it I have to say it went rather smooth. Bethesda did a very good job of setting up a series of faction tracks and it becomes clear during every faction when you either have to choose that faction or shunt to the other, then as you go down that faction the choice of the remaining faction tracks pops up again you and you either stay on that track or shunt to the next. its a pretty good process of elimination to end up with the faction you want.

I agree on the BoS though, I was originally rooting for them (hard not too we literally built them up in FO3) and it was really fun and nostalgic to re build liberty prime. but the danse mission really hit it home for me and its a really easy way to tell who the good guy / bad guy is in my book.

the BoS cared about WHAT danse was, not what he had DONE.

you could liberate the wasteland, purify water at your touch, re grow pure plants at a foot step, cure supermutants and ghouls with a wave of your hand, and be the greatest hope for humanity. . .but if your a synth then they just don't care your EVIL. . .wtf?

I had pretty much the exact problem. Not that I particularly care for the Railroad's goals and people. Unfortunately, it seems that the endgame means massacre of one faction or another

If you want to roleplay, then no need to actually finish the game. People live, and you can still help the railroad if you so wish

At that point, by not finishing the main quest and choosing to side with a particular faction, you are actually choosing to preserve the "Status Quo" . Which in a role playing aspect, I find totally acceptable.
