Knowing what you know of Cyrodiil, if you could...

Post » Thu Mar 10, 2016 11:37 pm

If you could move to Cyrodill, knowing everything that you know about it, and were even able to take a few things with you, ( limited to what you can carry ) what would you do as the Empire's newest immigrant? What would you take? How would you make your living? How would you make your mark on Tamriel?

EDIT: Whoops. I seem to have posted this in the wrong section. It shouldn't be here in Mods, but in General Discussion. Perhaps a moderator can help? Thanks.

Well, my character already lives in Cyrodill, but to answer your question, she would take with her a sword and bow, along with 250 Elven arrows. Then she would kill all the bandits in their camps and sell their loot. Next she would clear all the bandit and Marauder dungeons until she had enough Septims to buy all the good houses. She might also tour some of the critter dungeons to see if she could find some nice rings. Then she would settle down to a life of leisure drinking fine wine and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

What would you do? :D

I would rent a cheap room room at the Merchants Inn and, like Hemingway at La Closerie des Lilas in Paris, nurse a bottle of Cheap Wine at a corner table of The Feed Bag during the day while I wrote the amazing multi-volume account of how I, Pseron Wyrd, happened, against all odds, to travel from earth to Nirn.

Why the Imperial City? Because that's where the big publishing houses and well-connected literary agents are located. A short walk will take me from my agent's office to my daytime haunt at The Feed Bag, where I will get drunk and boast about my adventures fighting Mountain Lions in The Great Forest to anyone who will buy me a bottle of Tamika's. Afterwards I will stumble, drunk, back to my rented room at The Merchant's Inn.

Once my exciting story became a best-seller I would use my millions of Septims in royalties to buy up the entire town of Water's Edge, erect a six-foot wall around it, and spend the remainder of my days giving interviews and writing incisive op-ed pieces for the Black Horse Courier.

What would I take with me? A large backpack containing photographs of my daughter, my treasured six-inch plastic action figure of Xena: Warrior Princess (which, as I type this, I am dismayed to realize is twenty years old this year) and paperback copies of Ulysses, Naked Lunch and On The Road. There is nothing else I need. Everything else I might require, such as clothes and writing materials, could be found in Cyrodiil.

I would probably stay in the imperial city. Or to be more precise the Arcane University. Not to be a mage, or at least not a powerful mage, but to be a scholar. Not only study Tamriels history, but experience it. By experiencing it, I presume by this, that it becomes real. So I would be able to actually, for example, study a plant and learn its properties. Same goes for animals, dissicting and so on. I would dedicate my life to learn about this world and write down my findings. Hire some mercaneries and study the Ayleid ruins. Also some points travel to the other provinces to seek its secrets for knowledge and wisdom.

All this to the become the greatest historian in Tamriel or at least one of the best. Maybe with my vast knowledge advice emperors, people or inspire a new age. Who knows. This all reflects on me as a person as well (since I want to study history) and if I was in Tamriel and lived in Cyrodiil, I would do the same.

What would I take with me? I don't know... That really depends on a great many things. But I do have a teddy bear that I cherish and take it with me to think of home and my family here and always remind me where I come from.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I would love to study at the Arcane University, researching old tomes. I'd also research the 1st and 2nd Empires don't know much about them. I would also love to study Ayelid culture. Then I'd take trips to Morrowind, Skyrim, and Hammerfell and study Dwemeri culture.

Me? First, I'd get a trenchcoat with a LOT of pockets, and a backpack, so I could carry a lot of stuff! LOL!

I'd take a gun and lots of bullets.

I'd take a copy of the Oblivion game guidebook!

I'd take enough parts to make a wind or water mill to make electricity. ( alternators, inverters, wires, etc )

I'd take several portable harddrives full of movies, a laptop, and a projector.

I'd take a camcorder or two.

I'd take an MP3 player full of tunes.

I'd make Tamriel's first movie theater! Eventually, I'd make a stage theater, too, for local performers.
